It's great to have "everything" fun on a site, a kickass arcade, casino, gifts and trust me there are many other mods that are out there for the downloading to add to a site but all those come at a price. We would need to redesign the site to accommodate all those bells and whistles and extra money to pay the people for all the behind the scenes fixes and a new hosting site with a server that could handle all of this and at around $175.00 a month and that adds up to $2100.00 a year for a site that brings in no revenue let me know if any of you think it's worth the cost and your promise to pay the bill every month that it comes in. In the end we are trying to bring what we can, as fast as we can with the resources we have available and hopefully GIF is at the end of the day still fun and informative for you all.
I liked the arcade and even the casino sometime, but I would much rather post about football and other things. :) Great job with the transformation and the site!!!!!
I couldn't care less about the casino or arcade, but I'll miss rep. It was a great way to find good posts. It was almost like a search function to me. I never understood the whole rep whoring thing.
the vcash abuse wouldnt occur if people followed the betting procedure. **********Automerged Doublepost********** i will not miss any of those features im just about the vcash
You know I love you & Steve! I just don't want Off Topic to go or the other sports. The whole "football first" intimidated me for a sec. The arcade & casino I can careless about because I play on pogo when I get bored. I use to post on this military wives board and when the overhead got too expensive for the administrator there, she asked us if we would mind paying yearly dues for access to certain forums. 95% of us said no, we didn't mind and it was $15 for just basic forum access with no sigs-$20 for (I'm not going to word this correctly)a certain amount of storage space for sigs/pics, etc. It was somehow set up through our settings page to pay. Honestly, I totally wouldn't mind doing this here. It would help you guys out a bunch. Just a thought.
It saves on server resources. If someone posts ten times in a row their sig and avatar have to be loaded all 10 times.
The off topic isn't going away, neither is the other sports we understand that there are people here that aren't football first people and football isn't a 12 month sport don't worry, as far as the money issue I really think we would like to keep it as a donation and those that can help us will and those that can't well they can't.
i never once posted in a rep tramps thread....goobered idea to me but i did enjoy repping the occasional good post
Unfortunately your habits were the exception instead of the rule around here. That's the way it should have been from the get-go.
Yeah, I didn't either. I don't care about my rep number per se, but I liked being able to see when people appreciated my posts and being able to rep others who helped me out or gave a thoughtful or funny response. Any chance we can bring back the rep and ban rep whoring? Or does it take that much bandwidth? Or is it just too hard to police?
That is the problem right there. We can do all we can to try to discourage abusing the system and people will find a way to cheat the system. The same has happened with the vCash and vBookie. There are some people now who aren't even getting the payouts they wanted because of the huge amounts of vCash they have accumulated simply because the numbers are out of hand from abusing the system with ridiculous betting strategies.
Betting - Wouldn't limiting the amount of bets per event to 1 fix the betting abuse? I'm probably over looking some things. Rep - Can't we limit the number of rep given out in a certain time period and be forced to spread rep around? I know there is the ability because I payed for the mod to turn it off when I couldn't rep the same person twice over a few day period. Limit it to a few rep a day that has to be spread around and people will value their ability to give rep a little more.
The bookies will have to post their events that way from here on out. As for the rep....at this point it's beyond repair. The reputation levels are so skewered that they needed to be erased for one. Second, the post tramps will simply just start a new rep whoring thread and find ways to max it out while they all hit each other up one way or another.
Yea thats true because there was a unlimited rep option you could buy and thats why it was abused most likely but no biggy really its just a number.
