Bright side for the Chiefs: Defense played outstanding outside of a few plays, and special teams was incredible. However, I would be worried because the offense continued to struggle and protect Cassel. Overall though, I am surprised, well not really.
The real question is can the defense hold up away from Arrowhead? With the way the offense played I would be scared. Relying on the "big" play can only go so far, consistancy is what wins. The Chiefs special teams play was consistant, and for the most part so was the defense. But Cassel and the offense still has me worried. But feeding off the crowd was obvious, so that means the Chiefs should have at least a winning record at home. They have a tough road ahead past the Browns. But the Chiefs are leading the division for the first time in how long?:icon_cheesygrin:
This was a great win for KC. However, There is need for concern on the offense side of the ball. Cassel went 10/22 with a little over 60 yards. 2 of there 3 touchdowns came from explosive plays.
It was clear we'd get conservative when we got the lead. This is just like the 90s when we had all of those game managing QBs, outside of Montana.
Wow, what a game. Arrowhead was rocking last night despite the rain. It hasn't been that loud in a long, long time. The good: Derrick Johnson and Glen Dorsey were amazing last night. Full on beast mode! Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr looked really strong. Javier Arenas and Dexter McCluster on punt returns. Jamaal Charles just being Jamaal Charles. Damn he needs more than 11 carries. The bad: Eric Berry was responsible for both San Diego touchdowns. I know it's his first game but I hoped for better from him. Javier Arenas was not very good as the nickel back. The ugly: Matt Cassel, I'm pretty much done being an apologist for him. I realize conditions were a little difficult but he missed quite a few open receivers. Best thing I can say about him is at least he didn't turn the ball over, but he is not good and is actually going to hold this team back. A good quarterback in this offense with the players we have could be a top 10 offense. No chance with Cassel. I'm with mj on Cassel now.
I'm with you on Cassel, the play in I think it was the 4th quarter, Cassel opted to go for a deeper route to Chambers, I think it was, when Thomas Jones was wide open underneath. It was a 3rd and long and we were at midfield and if he throws to Jones, it's an easy 10 yards and we get a probable FG to make it a 2 possession game. I get that the rain made it tough, and Rivers didn't look right either, I get that Bowe had some drops, but Cassel really did look bad. My last hope for him right now is that he just learns everything there is to learn about QB, does everything he is able to do, and just manages the game as good as he possibly can. The thing I like about this though is that we all saw how good our coaches were. Weis knew instantly that throwing wasn't going to be a good idea, and that's probably why we didn't turn the ball over and essentially won it for us.
just want my respect from the Chiefs fans. I deserve it. I think I was only non chiefs fan to show support.
KC why couldn't you just lay down like you were supposed to do so :cuss: and not get me eliminated in my survivor leagues
