Clemson's Davis to enter NFL draft

Clemson tailback James Davis has decided to enter the NFL Draft.

Davis, who earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as a sophomore and junior, informed teammates of his decision late Tuesday night.

Reached by The Post and Courier, Davis said he will not announce his decision until he speaks with his coaches on Wednesday. He was not present for a team meeting in Clemson on Tuesday.

Davis, who rushed for 1,064 yards and 10 touchdowns on 214 carries in 2007, was forecast as a third-round pick by the NFL underclassmen advisory committee.

Underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to declare for the NFL Draft.
