Clinton Portis Is Changing His Number.

so much hype for nothing...? Give it to me, I'll wear the number for crying out loud.

 

It would have been a classy move, but I can see his reasons for not wanting to. There's other ways to pay respect to Taylor without taking what Portis feels was his identity.

I've heard the Skins will be starting the game with 10 players on defense, though.

Yeah, he's not going to wear it, said he's not him, and couldn't even come close to performing like he could.

 

In a sport like baseball and soccer, that's easily doable. But unfortunately for football, you need to be able to distinguish all 11 players for each side on every play, if for nothing else than being able to call the game. I like the idea of the patch, and would have even been cool with Portis changing his number, even for one game. But not the whole team.
