Less than 24 hours into his first season as an NHL coach, Hall of Famer Patrick Roy is already $10,000 lighter in the wallet after being fined by the league for an outburst at the end of the Colorado Avalanche's regular-season opener Wednesday night. The league announced the fine Thursday afternoon. Roy was enraged after a collision between Avs rookie forward Nathan MacKinnon and Anaheim Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy in the waning seconds of Colorado's 6-1 win. Roy thought the hit was a dangerous knee-on-knee play and began yelling at some Anaheim players before engaging in a shouting match with Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau.
