The Indianapolis Colts are listening to offers from teams interested in trading for perennial Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Freeney is entering the final year of his contract and is carrying $14.035 million and $19.035 million salary cap number into the season. According to Schefter, Freeney is unwilling to restructure his contract. The 11th overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Syracuse, the 32-year-old Freeney is a seven-time Pro Bowler, three-time first-team All-Pro, was a member of the NFL's All-Decade team for the 2000s and is the Colts' all-time leader with 102.5 sacks. well, the chiefs and broncos could afford to bring freeney in with peyton if it would sweeten the deal .............. they've both go a ton of cap space.
This is the legacy of Bill Polian. Look for there to be news on Gary Brackett in the coming weeks. The 7.5m he makes this year is Ray Lewis type money.
it's being reported that brackett, addai, clark, and bullitt have all been cut today ................ total house-cleaning ................. which is why the mathis signing confuses the crap out of me...........
Most of those players aren't worth their contract, underperformed, or are injury ridden. My guess is Mathis fits a 3-4, (he's only like 245-250). As a Colts fan, my hope is, we spend one year in cap-hell, get an early pick next year, we've hit the reset button on almost every expensive contract, so we can do free agency after Luck's first year. As of now the only expensive players left are: Bethea, Mathis, Vinatieri. And Freeney whatever happens to him. Man its going to be a long season Hopefully next years off-season brings promise :icon_sad:
I'd still love to sign Clark. Get a cheap deal with a TON of incentives. Dude still has the potential to be a stud if he is healthy. And honestly, this team is going to have a rough 2 or 3 years at MOST but they'll bounce back. They need to get younger. Makes sense and this is a good time to do it. Bring in a total fresh slate.
Hell a team could almost reform the Colts if they signed all these players lol. Sign Dallas, Reggie and Peyton and get to winning games lol.
