The Indianapolis Colts have hammered out a four-year, $2.22 million contract with fourth-round rookie offensive guard Jacques McClendon, according to a league source. McClendon received a $435,000 signing bonus, the standard base salaries of $320,000, $405,000, $490,000 and $575,000 as well as a fourth-year escalator clause that can significantly boos the maximum value of the deal. McClendon is known for his strength, bench pressing 225 pounds 37 times. The 6-foot-2, 308-pounder started 27 games at the University of Tennessee. The Colts are expected to groom McClendon for a starting job at some point in the next year or so.
