Colts WR Reggie Wayne On Peyton Manning: "We Realized He Isn't Immortal"

  1. Speaking to Jay Glazer on NFL Network Saturday, Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne called quarterback Peyton's Manning's 2010 struggles, particularly the 11 interceptions he threw between Week 11 and Week 13, a "shock." "The main thing we realized, he’s not immortal," Wayne said. "He’s real. He’s not a machine. It goes to show you this game is so competitive, even the guys on top can hit a wall somewhere. As a team we just stuck behind him, kept pushing, told him, ‘Keep throwing,’ and hope he throw it to us. And it was good, everybody stuck together and we found a way out of that rut.â€￾ Manning did rally to post a 9-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio as the Colts won their final four games to finish 10-6 and make the playoffs, but his 17 picks were his most since 2002. Regardless, he's still poised to sign a massive extension this offseason, and should have no trouble bouncing back in 2011 as long as the Colts avoid the almost-biblical wave of injuries suffered by their skill players in 2010.
