The Giants were willing to trade DT Barry Cofield for the Saints' second-round pick during the '10 draft, only to have Cofield's contract demands ruin the deal, according to The Star-Ledger. Cofield, a restricted free agent, became somewhat expendable after the team drafted DT Linval Joseph. After the deal fell through, GM Jerry Reese says he talked with Cofield and told him the team no longer was actively shopping him and Cofield has participated fully in the team's offseason program. Cofield, 26, is now more than a year removed from microfracture and tendon surgery on his knee and could be in for a big '10 season and then become an unrestricted free agent next year.
