William Clay Ford Sr., the longtime owner of the Detroit Lions, has died at the age of 88. “It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of Mr. Ford and extend our deepest sympathies to Mrs. Ford and to the entire Ford family,” Lions President Tom Lewand said in a statement. “No owner loved his team more than Mr. Ford loved the Lions. Those of us who had the opportunity to work for Mr. Ford knew of his unyielding passion for his family, the Lions and the city of Detroit.” http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/09/lions-owner-william-clay-ford-sr-dies-at-88/related/
Lived long enough to see his Lions become... the 1st team in NFL history to go 3 seasons, 2000 - 2003, to go without a road win (streak went to 24 games)... the 1st team in NFL history to go 0 - 16, 2008, followed up with a respectable encore of 2 -14... got to see his beloved Detroit go broke... Lived long enough for his dreams to die before him...
