As he briefed the press before Wednesdays practice, Browns head coach Eric Mangini dropped the first clue that Phil Dawsons job isnt rock-solid safe. Dawson is sitting out voluntary practices at this point, perhaps in a nudge at the contract process. Mangini seemed to veer slightly out of his way to note that someone named Parker Douglass, undrafted out of South Dakota State, is doing a nice job with his opportunities and hit a 52-yard field goal in a practice the other day.
