According to SI.com's Jim Trotter, the Miami Dolphins have informed linebacker Kevin Burnett that they will be releasing him. Burnett is the second Dolphins linebacker to be released today, joining Karlos Dansby on the free agent market.

The Dolphins signed linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Philip Wheeler today, leading to the release of Dansby and Burnett.

Burnett joined the Dolphins in 2011 after three years with the San Diego Chargers and four years with the Dallas Cowboys. During his two seasons with the Dolphins, Burnett recorded five sacks, one interception, one touchdown, and 212 tackles.
