And thy putting him on the trade block, they are pretty much telling him they dpmnt want him. Understand? It wasnt to long ago you guys were crying about a crapty draft and a crapty DC hiring. Now no move could be wrong. Philly homerism has become rampant
Moving the Chains - philly.com If we simply don't want him anymore, sure he'll be gone. The wise thing to do would be stick with all three and utilize their talents in a similar situation that the Packers did. Samuel was inevitably going to be a little butthurt. He's been numero uno stud on our defense since he has been here. Now he is sharing the backfield with two other Pro Bowlers who he probably feels are going to take his job away. Like someone already said, his pride won't allow him to not say anything about it. It also sounds like the coaches haven't done a particularly good job assuring him that he will continue to have a vital role in the defense. They need to find a way to keep him in the mix and aware that he will be on the field most snaps. After all, he is our 2nd best corner.
If the Eagles trade Samuel it will be the first bad move they've made this off-season and it could possibly trump all the work they've done. That could wind up being a big mistake. Samuel on the team potentially outweighs anything they could get in return. The value he would bring as a nickel or moving any of them to the nickel is far more than what a future draft pick could add to the team.
I disagree. They can get more talent at positions they need it at, they won't have to have an elite nickel db with that pressure the line will be getting. They could also add another high pick for 2012 draft and be even more stacked for the future. I'm hoping they don't trade him just so the carnage known as the Eagles off-season acquisitions can come to a halt. It's just scary at this point.
Thing is, teams are in a nickel defense about 60% of the time, if not more and they are most likely going to have to go through the Saints and Packers if they are going to make it to the Super Bowl. Joselio Hanson is not remotely close to Samuel, DRC or Asomugha and that could wind up being the teams Achilles heal for the 2011 season. They have a big opportunity to win it this season...the rate they are going, they'll be fine in 2012 with or without an extra high draft pick...
Would absolutely HATE it if we traded him. Clearly this season is all about winning it all. Makes no sense trading what could be a critical piece of the puzzle.
Just think it would make more sense to bring in bigger position needs by trading him, so you don't build the whole puzzle just to find out you're missing a few pieces and they aren't in the box.
Lol@The difference between these two replies. One is Omen, the other is a try hard on rebounding and showing how intelligent one can be. Whether they keep him, or trade him, they're going to have all the pieces someway or the other, except the main one.
You can get away with a corner missing (pun intended also), you just don't want something missing in the middle of that puzzle. It would be like missing solid linebackers in the middle of a defense if I could use a football analogy here.
I'd really like to see that entire interview. One of the things the media is great at is taking a sentence and running with it. Either way it's possible to run with these 3 studs at DB. Asante is HEADS and tails above DRC when healthy. We have 2 of the top 10 DB's in the NFL and another in the top 20. Let's just leave these guys where they are unless we get a deal that blows us away.
If you can get a near Pro Bowl level LB or SS in return, you pull the trigger, especially if the Giants land Carlson. As it stands, the Eagles are going to be hurting covering TE's, and they play in a division where TE's can get 20-40 yards downfield like WR's can. The Eagles have weakness's that could bite them in the butt. They coul;d pull a solid NCB off the street right now, and already have one in Hansen.
