That would have been a terrible idea for Aikman. He retired because he had to many concussions. Its kinda like when Denver tried to talk Steve Young out if retirement when Elway retired
fight club anyone............. as Roy said it wouda sucked bad just like when Emmitt went to cards but ya dont go one and hate them and boo them
Had Emmitt gone to the Cards in his prime and the Cards were even a remote threat in the then NFC East, Dallas would have let him hear it. The reality is Emmitt was near the end of hid HOF career created in Dallas and the Cards were nothing more than the Cowboy's practice squad. Didn't Dallas kinda kick him to the curb if I remember? I did go to one of the Cards/Cowboys games in Tempe and I found it funny that whenever Emmitt did break one (very rarely) he was met with wild applause. Not from the Card's fans, but from the Dallas fans who always outnumbered Card fan 5:1. Really quite funny. Difference between Smith and Aikman though, Smith wanted to play and contribute. Troy was in life preservation mode and didn't want to risk becoming life-support victim. Just an observation and opinion.
This story came about because he was asked if he every thought about pulling a Farve. He said he had an offer but declined but would not say what team. Aikman would have been hated for that year and a few after he reretired, but by the time he would have been placed in the HOF most fans would have forgiven him.
It is a buisness for these guys, not trying to rub it in anyones face but the fact that he had a stint in Dallas at the end of his career shouldnt tarnish Randell's name to Eagle fans
Nah... at that point in Randall's career we were happy to see him get paid from a franchise dumb enough to pay him and the fact that he would get to steal an enemies money and play mediocre old man ball in Dallas for what was only ever going to be a year was a good thing.... you have to remember that season opened with the eagles destroying the cowboys and Aikman going out as well,so it was clear the cowboys were the dregs of the division. What's not clear is when you will recover and actually win a playoff game again.
Probobly a year or two before the Eagles win a Super Bowl and stop being thought as the red headed step child of the East
Only haters think of the Eagles as anything BUT the class of the division. We have ruled it for the better part of a decade.
With the other teams hitting rock bottom during that time it is like saying you are the King Dung Beetle. Now matter how highly you think of yourselves you still live in DUNG. The part that makes that statement even more funny is they are not even the team from the East to win a SB.
I think you guys missed the point. This is nothing more than a cheap played out cliqued slam that was a response to phigles cheap, played out cliqued slam
The Steelers reached for Dan Marino when they were stuck with Kordell Stewart, and nobody makes a big deal about it. IIRC even the Dolphins talked to Aikman after he retired too.
