Eagles Select USC QB Matt Barkley (Rd.4, No. 98)

Apparently after they talked to Barkley, Chip was amazed at his intelligence and maturity.

 

Not bad at all... Fourth round pick.. im cool with that...

the word around Kansas City is that the Eagles traded up because they were aware that the chirfs were ctually going to take Barkley

We got a first or second round prospect in the fourth round. He didn't do a great job if that was what he was trying to do.

 

So, what'll they do to Vick now?

 

Unless he gets them deep in the playoffs, he's probably gone. He gets hurt too much, IMO.

 

You mean our current starting quarterback? I'm guessing they will probably keep him at least till someone else proves they can handle it.

 

He'll start 2013 as th starter, get hurt in 3 weeks and Foles will step in. If he does good he keeps his job. If he does bad wht up Bark!? Either way, we only have 1 year with Vick. He's on a 1 year deal. He either sucks(more likely) or he plays lights out and some team overpays for him in 2015.

 

And that's all assuming he makes it out of the preseason unharmed.

Mike Freeman, senior NFL columnist for CBSSports.com, has an article about how USC QBs have not done well in the NFL. He points out that 11 USC QBs have won national championships, six in the Super Bowl era, but none have them have played in a Super Bowl.

The article is titled Why do so many standout USC QBs make mediocre (at best) pros?

 

Matt Barkley will have an amazing preseason and get flipped for a 2nd round pick in 2 years. I still think Marcus Mariota is the Eagles starting QB in 2015.
