Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov will be returning to Long Island, signing a one-year deal with the Islanders on Friday.

The contract is for $3.25 million, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Nabokov played in 41 games in the regular season, compiling a 23-11 record with a 2.50 goals-against average.

The Islanders recently bought out goalie Rick DiPietro, leaving only Nabokov and backup Kevin Poulin on the roster.

New York also signed Peter Regin and Pierre-Marc Bouchard on Friday.

He played pretty well last season. I understand why NYI would only give him a seasoner though. They don't want to get burned again
