For the Packers, 'tis the season to not give

When the Green Bay Packers prepared for Detroit last week, they talked a lot in their meeting rooms about turnovers. In fact, they talked about them constantly.

No other single statistic seems to steer them to a win more than limiting their interceptions and fumbles.

Since Mike McCarthy became coach in 2006, the Packers have gone 18-2 against NFC North Division opponents when they won the turnover battle, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

The most recent of those victories came Sunday, when the Lions threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles to the Packers' one interception and Green Bay escaped Motor City with another key victory.
