What wins championships Running and Defense...what do the 49ers do, run and play freaking sick defense. If the Saints high octane offense couldn't beat the niners nobody can

San Francisco to the Superbowl 27 to 23

uh, the Saints put up 30+ points on that vaunted defense with Brees putting up damn near 500 yards in the air. The Saints defense obviously is terrible. The Giants are not only playing great defense but running and putting up big numbers in the air.

yep, i agree. the winning teams from these playoffs are passing the ball around the field like this is the god**mn arena football league or something.

this game has changed quite a bit over the past several years and this year has taken a HUGE step towards 'arena league' style football.

chubz - if anything the the niners showed that they can step out of their comfort zone - running, passing when needed and great defense - and still won the game.

difference really here is for the giants - they have not faced a defense like this since mid november.

Hard for me to go against the Giants in this game. But I will just because I don't want to see them in the Super Bowl.

and the last time the 49ers played the Giants, the Giants were without Bradshaw and Manningham, an injured Boley, Tuck and Osi playing hurt. As the Giants are right this very second, this is the most complete team they have been in a longtime and playing exceedingly well on both sides of the ball. This is the most complete team the 49ers will have faced all year.

Now on the flip side, Gore wasn't that healthy the last time they played and Smith has obviously stepped it up. The Giants are going to focus on taking away the 49ers strength running the ball and force Smith to beat them with his arm. The Giants aren't going to have to send 5-6 pass rushers to contain Smith, they just simply have to rush 4 and drop 7. No team can afford to leave points on the board in this game.

it's going to be close either way IMO. my hatred for the giants is going to determine my pick plus i want to see ackers win a ring to further rub it reid's fat freaking face.

lol. I think it's going to be hard hitting game on both sides. Points whether 3 or 7 are going to come at a premium.

What the 49ers dont want is the Giants getting up early, that plays right into the hands of the Giants just pinning back their ears. I'd have more faith in the Giants playing from behind than the 49ers.

I think the Giants shot their wad yesterday. They now have to travel cross country to face the Niners. That's not an easy thing to do. It takes a lot out of a team to do that.

    Niners win.

well, the cross country trip is definitely a factor but if any team shot its' wad this weekend, it would be the niners. that was one of the more emotional games i've seen in a LONG time. the giants game was rather boring. the giants just kind of let the packers self-destruct. they didn't give much effort, except in the 2nd half. if either team is going to let-down, the niners are more likely.

In front of a revved up home crowd? I doubt it.

aren't the packer the only home team to lse so far in the playoffs ?

yes, unlike most years in the playoffs, home teams are dominating. they are 7-1.

Better be 9-1 after next week.

Giants didnt shoot their wad yesterday. They never trailed that game at all. Plus they are battle tested, the cross country thing wont be a factor. It's not like they land in Cali and go right to the field to play, if anything teams going west fare better than teams that go east anyway.

it'll be 8-2 .............. san fran vs. balt ........... after everything all year with all of the offensive records being shattered, we'll have 2 defensive-focused teams in the SB and it will be the lowest scoring SB of all time .......... that would be funny

meh...I'll pick the Giants. But I think the Niners have the better shot...
