Nice thread, TJ. Didn't see it at the time you opened it. I've read several of the books mentionned here but if I had to recommand only one, it would be this one : Amazon.com: America's Game (9780375725067): Michael MacCambridge: Books It's a real gold mine of information about the history of American Football from the late 40's to our days and how it grew up.
ic, you have to buy them in the USA, what would cost me additional S/H fees too. I can get alot of books over amazon.de and won't be charged with any fees. Have you ever tried alibris.com? I purchased there a lot of used (Packers-)books in great condition for a good price
I friggin love football books My favorites Next Man Up - John Feinstein More Than A Game - Brian Billick Touchdown Alexander - Shaun Alexander Quiet Strength - Tony Dungy
yeah it's about a HS team in Texas in the late 80's i think. it was an awesome movie and an even better book
Yeah that's a big reason I haven't read it either. Texas is so damn smug about their football. Too many stupid jocks in that state that think football is their future. They end up pumping gas and trying to push their kids into their dream, and the cycle continues.
I read Playing for Pizza by John Grisham over a year ago, pretty good read considering it was a step out of the box for Grisham, didn't take but a couple of days to read it though. Winning with Integrity by Leigh Steinberg is good it's about the art of negotiation in life and business, Leigh is a sports agent used to be Steve Young's agent and Warren Moon among others and he was the model for the movie Jerry Maguire.
Friday Night Lights was a great book, definitely worth picking up. I definitely want to get Tales From the Patriot Sideline, anything that has a detailed history of the team. Also, I'm no Bills fan but I hear Relentless is supposed to be a great read.
this. great book from what i've read, I seen someone on here post up about it, forgot what thread though.. its very cheap on Half.com, really good book tho.
