I've always subsrcibed to the theory of RB's early. I do play in a smaller league and have won it 3 out of the last 5 years. A couple of years ago I drafted 3RB's in the first 5 rounds with a QB and 1 WR. I won the league that year. I will admit though that in the past couple of yearsI have adjusted a bit and taken the upper echelon WR's a little earlier.

both omen and garnett you did well going against the RB early theory based on nailing the WR picks or nailing the bears defense. By taking consistent RB's early it gives you more leeway to pick WR's and QB's later

RB's of value go much faster than WR's or QB's of value simply because there are more WR's and QB"s to choose from and the dropoff in tiers from level 1 to the lower levels is much greater than the dropoff in tiers of WR's and QB's. It's actually pretty simple.

I've always tried to find the average scoring for the regular (non elites) of each position. The past couple of seasons, Defenses and WR's have had equal or better averages with mid-high tier players then mid to LOW tier RBs. If you only start 2 RBs and 3 WR's then you may be better prepared by getting 1 elite RB and 1 elite WR and the others mid-tier. Rookie RB's are expected to do well this year (Stewart, Mendenhall, Jones etc). These guys won't go early and can be snagged mid draft and turn out to be steals.

This year seems more unpredictable then most. Most years I know the RB run will come rounds 1-3. WR's and QB's generally go then. I haven't a clue this year.

Makes sense, I wish I would have thought about it sooner.

It was an interesting draft in my league this year. I had the number 5 pick in a 12 team league and by the time I got around to pick # 3, 7 qbs were gone.
