Penn State University reportedly wants to hire Greg Schiano as their next head coach. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may lose Greg Schiano regardless of today's results. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Penn State University will make a strong push to hire Schiano if Bill O'Brien leaves, something that seems exceedingly likely to happen as the Texans have been reported to be in contract talks with O'Brien. From #NFLGameDay: Penn State is preparing to lose Bill O’Brien. Their AD is ready to make a strong push for #Bucs coach Greg Schiano. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 29, 2013 Rapoport notes that athletic director Dave Joyner wants to fly to Tampa to make the case with Schiano in person. Schiano spent a large part of the 1990s at Penn State under Joe Paterno. The Buccaneers head coach denied being interested in the Penn State job earlier this week, and it's not clear whether he'd consider leaving the Bucs if offered the Penn State job. It would certainly be a more gracious exit than being fired. Greg Schiano is under fire in Tampa for a 4-11 season that is likely to turn into a 4-12 season later today when the Bucs take on the New Orleans Saints.
