NBC Sports confirmed on Wednesday that MSNBC news personality Keith Olbermann will not return to the network's Football Night in America highlights show on Sundays. Olbermann has been a fixture on the show in recent years, but the decision to move him off was motivated by the news division's preference that he devote more time to his primary job as host of Countdown each weeknight. NBC did not list Olbermann in its preview of Thursday's telecast of the Minnesota Vikings-New Orleans Saints kickoff game. Newsday and SI.com confirmed his departure, which Sports by Brooks had reported in August.
