LB Keith Rivers Thinks He's 'Beyond A Steal' For Giants

New York Giants linebacker Keith Rivers thinks that if he plays at level he was drafted, general manager Jerry Reese should be put behind bars. "I was the ninth pick in the draft," Rivers said according to Newsday's Tom Rock. "Anywhere near that (level of play for the Giants) and it's beyond a steal. It's armed robbery." The Giants acquired Rivers from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 2012 fifth round draft choice (which the Bengals used on George Iloka). Rivers was available for such a cheap price because he missed all of the 2011 season with a wrist injury, lost his starting job to Thomas Howard, and a high salary ($2.16 million) entering the final year of his rookie contract. Where Rivers will play in New York has yet to be determined. An outside linebacker in Cincinnati, Rivers has been working on the outside during the OTAs, but with the second unit behind Michael Boley. Rivers has also been rumored to be an option at middle linebacker, where Chase Blackburn and Mark Herzlich are presently 1-2 on the depth chart. Until Rivers carves out a role for himself, Reese will continue to have a clear rap sheet.

not high on himself at all is he lol

he sucks, but hes a good fit if he can play at a somewhat decent level

  3. I don't get why you think he sucks. He was great until he got blown up by Hines and now he has been trying to get back on track

he hasnt been 6th or 9th overall good though.

    you say

    and

so which is it? was he great as a rookie and trying to climb back, or has he been great since he recovered minus a wrist injury?

hes really not that good, thats why they traded him for a 5th round pick and continually drafted guys like maualuga, johnson, moch, dunlap...ect, and signed manny lawson. He came nowhere near the player he was supposed to be

  9. it's both. He was better before the Hines injury. Recovered and was good and then hurt his wrist. His problem is the injury bug not his playing ability. He has only been a disappointment because he can't stay healthy.

The reason he was only traded for a 5th rounder is because some jackass columnist in Cincy wrote that his wrist was degenerative (which it isn't) and it scared teams off.
