I think the timing has a lot to do with the publicity also....Just as Goodell is cracking down aon all the "thuggish" activity ....out comes the Vick story. I can't and won't condone Vick's actions but if it comes down to human vs. animal I think any action against a human is worse. Obviously so does our judicial system because of the penalties for the crimes. If any of the other stars mentioned had been convicted....wouldn't their sentences have been more than 12-18 months?
Give the reporters a couple weeks into the season and Vick will be old news...How often is Mike Tyson's rape conviction talked about today?
I would certainly hope all the talk goes away some time soon after his plea agreement.

Of course a a human life goes over an animals life, but that fact didn't make Vicks acting not less cruel. And if Tyson would have raped several females for three years and killed some of them, his penalty had been much higher.

I wouldn't count on the Vick talk going away anytime soon. I read today in the local newspaper that the county grand jury in Virginia is going to meet on Sept. 25 to decide if there is enough evidence to try Vick on a slew of charges. If convicted, he could get up to 40 years.
