Very cool of them! It really is a shame though that you never know if you are going to see a player in today's NBA. It's not fan-friendly at all.
I believe the league has made players that don't play a certain amount of games (65?) ineligible for season-ending awards but that might be the extent they've gone to remedy this situation.
