  1. Mock draft 4/2/2012

    Round 1
    1. Indianapolis (2-14): Andrew Luck (Stanford)- turn the page on the Manning era.

    2. Washington (5-11): RG3 (Baylor)- The Skins have been desperate for a QB for a long time now. RG3 is a good one. They're going to be fully willing to do whatever necessary.

    3. Minnesota (3-13) : Matt Kalil (USC)- They are in desperate need for a legit LT. They took their QB last year with Ponder now they can protect him with a better option than Charlie Johnson.

    4. Cleveland (4-12): Trent Richardson (Bama)- Peyton Hillis is on the way out and the Browns need to add as many playmakers as possible.

    5. Tampa Bay (4-12): Riley Reiff (Iowa)- They took care of the need at CB with signing Eric Wright. Reiff would immediately fill in at RT and his ability to play LT if Donald Penn plays poorly can't be undervalued.

    6. St. Louis (2-14): Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma St.)- The Rams need a playmaker on offense. Blackmon is a good WR and the Rams haven't had a good WR in awhile. They are apparently high on Blackmon, some have even suggested they may move up for him.

    7. Jacksonville (5-11): Morris Claiborne (LSU)- The Jags secondary has been awful for several years. They could use some young talent in the secondary.

    8. Miami (6-10): Ryan Tannehill (Texas a&m)- This is what happens when you lose out multiple times on a QB. You have to overdraft Tannehill. Tannehill has some good traits but this is way too early for a guy with 2nd round talent. The Dolphins don't really have a choice however.

    9. Carolina (6-10): Dontari Poe (Memphis)- The Panthers hemorrhaged yardage last year and it was mainly due to a less than fantastic d.line and LB core. He is a good prospect with a massive frame that is all potential.

    10. Buffalo (6-10): Michael Floyd (Notre Dame)- A player with great measurables, Floyd would give the Bills a nice target.

    11. Kansas City (7-9): Stephon Gilmore (South Carolina)- I think Gilmore could be the shock of the draft. He is a good player and one Mike Mayock in particular likes.

    12. Seattle (7-9): Quinton Coples (UNC)- Coples is a nice pass rusher and has great size. He would be a great addition to Seattle's team who lacks a great pass rusher.

    13. Arizona (8-8): Melvin Ingram (South Carolina)- Arizona needs a pass rusher and Ingram is very versatile as well as being extremely athletic.

    14. Dallas (8-8): Michael Brockers (LSU)- Dallas has a need at 3-4 DE and Brockers has more ability to rush the passer than many think. He is a great prospect who is not even close to reaching his potential.

    15. Philadelphia (8-8): Fletcher Cox (Miss St.)- Cox would give the Eagles a nice DT that can push the pocket. Andy Reid loves linemen and he has a need at DT as his rotation has gotten thin.

    16. New York Jets (8-8): Courtney Upshaw (Bama)- He is a fantastic prospect. A player than wins with effort and strength, not athleticism. He would give the Jets a great pass rusher.

    17. Cincinnati - from Oakland (8-8): Dre Kirkpatrick (Bama)- Kirkpatrick is an interesting prospect. Many don't know if his best spot is at CB or S. In Cincy, it won't matter as they have needs at both.

    18. San Diego (8-8): Mark Barron (Bama)- I actually expect them to trade down as they've done a nice job of filling their needs. However, Barron does fit their last big need at SS. They tried to have Bob Sanders play there and he lasted all of about 5 plays.

    19. Chicago (8-8): Whitney Mercilus (Illinois)- Mercilus is a nice pass rusher. Opinions on him seem very very split. There is a need for a pass rusher opposite Peppers.

    20. Tennessee (9-7): David Decastro (Stanford)- The Titans need an interior lineman and Decastro is elite.

    21. Cincinnati* (9-7): Cordy Glenn (UGA)- The Bengals need an OG and Glenn is a nice prospect. They already have his former teammate Clint Boling at the other OG spot. Glenn could also play RT if the ever unreliable Andre Smith shows up out of shape.

    22. Cleveland - from Atlanta* (10-6): Kendall Wright (Baylor) Wright is a speedy WR and that's one thing Cleveland's WR's have really lacked.

    23. Detroit* (10-6): Jonathan Martin (Stanford)- Martin is a LT only and that hurts him quite a bit. Luckily for him, his slide stops here. Detroit needs a franchise LT to keep Stafford healthy.

    24. Pittsburgh* (12-4): Doug Martin (Boise St.)- Pitt is in need of a physical RB and Martin fits the bill. Mendenhall will start the year on PUP.

    25. Denver* (8-8): Devon Still (Penn St.)- Still is an interesting prospect. He is very inconsistent and will be an interesting player for John Fox to work with.

    26. Houston* (10-6): Reuben Randle (LSU)- They need a great WR and Randle is very underrated. He would match well with Johnson.

    27. New England - from New Orleans* (13-3): Nick Perry (USC)- Perry is a nice pass rusher. He needs consistency but is really talented. Perry is much needed in NE as they need a young pass rusher.

    28. Green Bay* (15-1): Lamar Miller (Miami FL)- Miller is a great prospect with some nice wheels. He can provide Rodgers with yet another weapon and can split time with Starks.

    29. Baltimore* (12-4): Peter Konz (Wisconsin) He gives the Ravens a great young linemen to build around inside. They will use Konz at OG which is also a need until Birk retires.

    30. San Francisco* (13-3): Janoris Jenkins (North Alabama)- If anyone can help a troubled player it's Harbaugh who has proven he can work with tough individuals before.

    31. New England* (13-3): Stephen Hill (GT)- Hill would give the Pats the deep threat they need since Moss mailed it in.

    32. New York Giants* (9-7): Jerel Worthy (Michigan St.)- Worthy is a nice prospect but must improve his consistency. The Giants are one of the best teams in the league at developing D.linemen.

If Stephen Hill or Coby Fleener is there, I cant see the niners passing on ether one. Mario Manningham is on a 2 year deal and Randy Moss is on a short 1 year lease. Hill has imo a huge upside and can become the number 1 the Niners havent had since TO. Fleener would make alot of sense too. Just like the NFL became a 2 back system, I believe the nfl is evolving into a two TE league. Fleener has the tools to be a massive redzone target and has the speed to line up WR if needed. He would replace Delanie Walker or the niner's have been using like that. Walker is on a one year deal and is replaceable by a player like Fleener.

If the Steelers take a RB in the first round with what they have on the roster at the moment, they'd better give Mendenhall his walking papers and save the coin.

We're Poe or someone from Bama

Someone from Bama is very much on our radar, we just don't know who yet. Garrett went to the second Pro Day, which is key because USC was the only one he went to last year. Dre didn't work out, but he did visit. Very good chance either he, Upshaw or Barron are Cowboys next year

Also something to watch. Rumor is we have been talking to Cleveland about a trade up to land Morris Claiborne. If Cleveland can trade down to 6, we give them #14, Mike Jenkins and a 2013 #3. If they can't trade down with the Rams, same package but with Felix Jones as well

I don't see the Browns being happy with that package, personally. Heckert said there were 5 guys they liked, and a trade back would most likely keep them within the top 7 picks. He needs more for it to make sense too move back that far. The Browns need stars, not an extra third and a guy you don't want anymore..

    1) if blackmon is still there at #6, the rams will laugh and quickly pick him
    2) if claiborne is still there at #7, the jags will laugh and quickly pick him
    3) if the phins draft tannehill at #8, their fans will cry

From what I've heard, the snag was that the Browns wanted Murray

    That's an enormous snag.

Jenkins is basically dog crap, and Murray appears to be a very special player.

No way they give the Cowboys that pick for 14, Jenkins, and a future 3rd. 14, DeMarco Murray, and a future 3rd? I'd imagine they wouldn't even blink in hesitation.

Where do you get that Jenkins is dog crap. He had one really bad year in 2012 and has been solid every other year. He is a very good cover CB (Ypa of about 7.2 last year, 6.8 his rookie year and 5.5 his pro bowl year). His only real issues are his occosional non tackles and injuries

A trade down from 6 to 14 is worth about two thirds. Jenkins is worth about a 3rd. The snag is that a 2013 3rd isn't worth a 2012 one, and 14 to 4 would be roughly three thirds, and in no way is Jones worth a 3rd. If Cleveland is in fact interested in dealing down to 14, and can deal down to 6 (which I don't understand, but whatever) a 2012 third and Jenkins is about par value
