The packers already have their SS of the future in Burnett he was just hurt this year. I believe they took him in the 3rd last year.
Gabbert to me lacks pocket presence. Not something you want in a QB especially with a young O-Line. With Harbaughs ability to develop QBS I don't think the niners take one until the 2nd round at the earliest.
I still could see Ponder going ahead. QBs that drop usually have one thing in common- too much tape. Quinn and Clausen are examples. Locker played long enough in the spotlight for his weaknesses to show, and they are showing more and more every week. With Ponder his weaknesses are diminishing every week (at least that could be percieved) and he is a combine made QB who is going to put up some good physical numbers(though Locker is no Drew Bledsoe). If Locker looks average at the combine and Ponder continues to wow, I could see a flip flop there. You're prob. right on Newton. I just don't see how replacing Moss is all that important to that team. Ya, they could use a deep threat, but who will be there worth getting? Second or third sure, but I just don't see it in the first. DE, LB, DB, or OL BPA is what I see (and just cause they went DB last year doesn't mean much IMO, there are 4 guys back there after all).
Agreed. The only QB that they could take in the first that I wouldn't FREAK about is Newton, just based on potential, but still don't think I'd like it at all. If they are looking qb in first round they should trade down. Dallas comes to mind if either of the top 2 CBs are still around.
Well that's expected. He isn't that impressive Especially if you seen him play this year. He was better then year before.
Agree with the what your saying on NE. Mankins is getting the Franchise tag, but we still need another stud on the OL, however they seem to find those guys in latter rounds. Our biggest team weakness is no QB rush, so that will be the number one priority, and if 2 good ones are available DE/LB I could see that happening with three picks in the first 33 selections. I don't see Ingram falling that far in the draft, but if he's available, wouldn't be a shocker, if we took him. That's how we ended up with Wilfork, when he really wasn't in the thought process at the time.
