Barron, a former first-round draft selection, is a veteran of 87 career games with 75 starts at both left and right tackle during his NFL career. He is the first offensive player signed by the Raiders since free agency began on March 12.

Barron, a 6-foot-8, 315-pound tackle entering his eighth NFL season, was selected by the St. Louis Rams with the 19th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Barron played in 76 games with 74 starts in five seasons in St. Louis. He played in 16 games in each of his last four seasons with the Rams (2006 to 2009), missing just one start.
