The agent for suspended Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly has begun the process to apply for reinstatement, Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports. Jolly was suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy after facing felony drug possession charges stemming from an arrest in Houston in July of 2008. Jolly agreed to a plea deal that avoided jail time last August, and became eligible to apply for reinstatement following Super Bowl XLV. In 48 career games over four seasons, Jolly (6-3, 325) has 113 tackles and 2 quarterback sacks. A restricted free agent last off-season, Jolly was set to earn $2.521 million in base salary. Jolly signed his one-year tender, which will begin upon his reinstatement. "They’ve been very supportive of him this whole ride," Brian Overstreet, Jolly's agent, said of the Packers organization. "So I’d be surprised if that (returning to the Packers) didn’t happen. But you know, Johnny realizes that he has some responsibilities in this and to make sure that he does that. But they’ve been nothing but supportive of Johnny his entire career, even with this."
