The Carolina Panthers have reportedly held contract talks with veteran safety Quintin Mikell and a deal could be done soon.

Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly reports that the Panthers could add Mikell about three weeks before the team is scheduled to open up training camp. Mikell, who spent the last two seasons with the St. Louis Rams after eight years in Philadelphia, could give the Panthers a veteran option.

The 32-year-old has been a dependable performer throughout his career and has missed only one game over the previous five seasons. He made 101 tackles with a career-high three sacks and four forced fumbles for the Rams last season.
