Someone else thinks they ran out of juice beating the Pats. And someone else thinks they are the team to beat now...
well at the moment they probably are the team to beat..... but they probably focused to much on the game and now will come up short.
Focusing on the game is not coming up short. It's what you are supposed to do every week. No matter what team you play for.
i agree that teams should be trying to win games in September to position themselves to make the playoffs. However, CHAMPIONS typically use games in September/October to prepare themselves for December/January. Just look at the Steelers last year. During Sept./Oct., all we were talking about was how horrible the Steelers o-line was. they couldn't run the ball and Ben was getting sacked left and right. They continued to tweak some things and around the middle of November, they started to click better on offense and were prepared for the stretch run and playoff run. I just think selling out everything in order to win 1 game in September doesn't really help the Jets to play better in January, and that should be their goal (winning in January). They said themselves that this was their 'Super Bowl'. How many Super Bowls are they going to play this year? Six? Seven? Won't they lose impact after the third or fourth one? How many 'Super Bowls' can one team play in a year? The Jets may or may not end up doing well in January. There's no way we can know at this point. However, just from my observations of successful teams, I can't recall a SB champion that was overemphasizing games in Sept/Oct. All of them that I can think of say that early season games are there to prepare you for Dec/Jan. wow, this was a long response. Yikes. Sorry about that.
I think neither. We still are the team to beat. You play every game like it's your last chance to go to the Super Bowl, or you won't be around Playoff time.
