The news of Steve McNair's death hit one of his friends and peers hard. "Horrible, just horrible,'' Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said in a voice message. "It's a terrible loss for all of us.'' McNair, who shared the NFL's 2003 Most Valuable Player Award with Manning, was found shot to death Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. He was 36. "Steve McNair was one of the greatest competitors I've ever played against,'' Manning said in a statement released through the Colts. "I'll always remember playing against him.''
