Phils take 2 of 3 in Detroit. The bad news is that Spencer Turnbull, who has been fantastic as a spot starter for Walker, left after 3 innings with shoulder pain. Luckily if he is out for a while, it is not too big of a deal as it is the 5th spot in the rotation. He's been so good though. Hopefully we find out later today that it is nothing series.
Phils split a 4 game series against the Marlins. It's not going to be pretty with all of these injuries. If they can play around .500 ball for the next couple of weeks I'll take it.
Phils took 2 of 3 against the Cubs. Tonight starts a big series against the Braves. It’s real nice having a 9 game lead going in. Just need to not get swept.
Not a good series in Atlanta but at least they didn't get swept. Still up 8 games. Another big series now coming up against the Dodgers. Hopefully Harper & Schwarber will be back for it. Phillies have a franchise record 7 players make the Allstar team. Almost makes me want to watch the game. Almost.
Phillies sweep the Dodgers and now have a 6.5 game lead for best record in the NL. Early in the year Braves fans were saying that the Phillies can not beat good teams. They now have the best record in baseball against teams with winning records. They are now +123 in run differential. I thought they would be good this year, but nothing close to this. What a fun team.
Losing 2 of 3 at home, including an 18-3 massacre yesterday, to the lowly A's is a horrble way to end a great first half. Wheeler and Suarez have some possible injry concerns so the break is coming at a good time. 8,5 games up on the Braves in the division. 6.5 games up on the Dodgers for best record in NL. 3.5 games up on Cleveland for best record in baseball. I hope the 2nd half can be anywhere near as good.
Phils open a 3 game series at Pittsburgh. I'm disappointed that they won't face Skenes. I haven't really watched him pitch outside of highlights.
Not a great start to the 2nd half as Phils lose 2 of 3 in Pittsburgh. The series was decided Friday night as Alvarado blew a 2 run lead in the 9th. He drives me crazy. Within the first 2 or 3 pitches you know if he is going to be unhittable or open up the floodgates. I wouldn't mind them handing over the reigns to Hoffman as closer.
Phillies bullpen blew a 3 run lead yesterday to the Twins. They have now lost 3 straight series. Luckily most of the top teams in baseball are struggling right now and Phillies maintain the best record in the majors. That lead is 2.5 games and it is over the Guardians. They have a 3 game series with them this weekend. I will feel a lot better if we can take 2 of 3.
Phillies trade Seranthony Dominguez and Christian Pache to O's for Austin Hays. While Hays will give the Phils a much needed right handed OF bat to platoon with Marsh, I'll miss Seranthony. He wasn't always consistent but seemed to come up big in clutch moments and the playoffs. He was just a dude I liked so I rate the trade as 'Meh'. Now it appears we need two relievers at the trade deadline.
Phillies blow 2 leads and lost 2 of 3 against Cleveland. 4th series loss in a row for the Phillies. They somehow still have the best record in baseball by 2 games. Huge 3 game series against the Yankees starts tonight. I hope they go back to playing like they did at the beginning of the year.
Phillies get swept by the Yankees, losing 2 of the games by 1 run. 4th loss in a row and now they have lost 5 straight series. Harper is 0 for his last 18. Turner is really slumping as well. Going on the road may be good for them. Next up...3 in Seattle!
Is it good when your backup catcher pitches twice in a week? I know things will get better once the starters are healthy, but this totally feels like the Eagles collapse last season.
Damn…even Jeff Hoffman had a horrible appearance. Another blown lead by the bullpen and Harper’s plate struggles continue. 6 game losing streak and 6th straight series loss. Things are bad.
Phils finally looked like themselves again yesterday with a 6-0 win to salvage a game against Seattle. Since the Allstar break: When Phils throw a shutout: 4-0 When the other teams scores at least one run: 0-11 The brutal west coast road trip continues now with 3 games against the Dodger. The Phillies last series win was when they swept them last month. Taking 2 of 3 would make me extremely happy.
Great win last night by the Phils to take 2 of 3 against the Dodgers. Schwarber hit 3 HRs...one to left, one to center, and one to right! It now has them back up 2.5 games ahead of LA for best record in the NL. They also now have a .5 game lead for best record in all of baseball. Hopefully this is a sign that they have turned things back around. It doesn't get easier as they now have to play the hottest team in baseball. 4 games in Arizona. I would be really happy with a split.
