I wanted to post this to maybe "refresh" some of the current members and help some of the new members with how to post on the site. Read on and learn people! Accurate and descriptive topic titles Use a helpful title when starting new topics. For example the title "Can they...." is not helpful. The title, "Can The Patriots Go 16-0?" is helpful. This makes the forum more useful and much easier to browse. Try to use the "title" field for your title, not the "description" field. Topic titles, when well formulated, make the forum easier to browse and easier for information to be retrieved via the search function. It is for these two reasons that care should be taken when writing the title for a new topic. Let's suppose you're having issues with your sig pic not showing up. You'd head on over to the GridironFans Support forum and post a thread asking for help. Here are some examples of a bad and good topic title: Example of a bad topic title: HELP!!! Example of a good topic title: Need Help With My Sig Pic Not Showing Up Can you see the difference? A reader should be able to easily determine what the content of a topic is simply by reading the title. Note how in the first example above the reader does not know what the post is about until after they click the title link and read the first post. In the second example, however, it is immediately clear what the subject of the posting is. Further details on how to formulate the perfect title are given in the rest of this article. Search first, post later Before starting a new thread use the search feature to check that the subject of your intended post is not already covered by an existing topic. If a relevant topic already exists, then feel free to post a reply asking for updates or further details. If no topic already exists, feel free to start a new one. Take care to post new topics to the correct category. Stay on-topic Try to keep the discussions "on-topic". If you find the discussion wandering off in a direction completely un-related to the original topic then start a new thread. Off-topic posts are routinely moved to new and/or other existing topics by the moderation team. Use The Appropriate Post Icons When posting a new thread please use an appropriate post icon that gives members an idea of what the thread is about. We have over 85 post icons and each forum has a set that can be used in each forum. Adding a post icon is required on the site now. Be prudent and give the post icon some thought. Here is an example of a good use and bad use of the post icon: Bad Use Of Post Icon: "Rangers Beat Flyers 3-2 In OT" Good Use Of Post Icon: "Rangers Beat Flyers 3-2 In OT" The "ATTN" icon is inapppropriate because it doesn't convey anything about the thread. The "Hockey" icon is correct because the thread posted is about hockey. Quote feature usage Use the forum quote feature sparingly - if at all. Use your expert language skills to explain which post or comment you are replying to. It's much easier on the eye and pleasing to read. Do not "underquote" - this means do not place your reply above the quoted text. Instead, always place your reply below the quoted text. Do not quote a post that immediately preceeds your reply - this is known as redundant quoting. And of course.....people will probably skim though what was posted so here's a video that'll help. It was made for another site but the same netiquitte rules apply. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw5-GOG8SXo"]YouTube - How to post in the Forums[/ame]
How in the hell are we supposed to do that when we could be responding to a reply that happens within seconds during a furious post tramp session?
TheDuke I'm pretty sure you just copy the link from YouTube and paste it here.
