    Caps Confirm Theodore's Tragic Loss

The two-month old son of Washington Capitals goaltender Jose Theodore has died, the team confirmed Thursday.

"We are aware of the heartbreaking news," GM George McPhee said in a statement issued by the team moments ago. "At this time we ask that everyone respects the privacy of Jose and his family."

Theodore's son was believed to have been born in June, two months premature, according to a friend of Theodore's. The boy had been hospitalized with respiratory complications since birth and died last week.

He was the second child born to Theodore and Stephanie Cloutier, who also have a three-year-old daughter, Romy.
