He's not worth it. Period. The guy hasn't even started a full season's worth of games yet, and he wants Peyton Manning money? Win a playoff game, kid. Then come talk to me.
IMO they should give him the money, what a star he is turning out to be....shame he cant hold the ball for the kicker...hehehe..just my little jab, good luck to him..:icon_cool:
Thats what I'm sayin. He can do as good as he wants but he needs to win games that matter before he demands that kind of coin.
Now PFT reports that Romo has denied that claim, but that "he'd take that deal, though"... At this point, I think the Cowboys will just slap the franchise tag on him...
He wants damn near Peyton Manning money for not even a season worth of good (not great, but good to this point) quarterbacking? Well, at least he's proven more than Jamarcus Russell, but he's still not worth that at this point.
...and that's the quandry teams are in. Is Romo better than JaMarcus Russell? Right now, definitely (though IMHO Russell just doesn't project well at the next level). So, he should get paid more, right? It just doesn't work that way...
Does Jones put the Cowboys into potential salary cap hell if he gives Romo this money? IMO he will not do that again but with their new stadium coming in 2009-10 I can see Romo getting at least $25 million guaranteed.
hahaha even though u r an e-gal fan....i have got 2 say that was very funny and true...l like romo's play he is showing that he has brushed last season miscue off.....however he is still not worth the 30 million he is asking.....he should get matt shaub money....or maybe jj should give it to him and then tell him that 10mil is a deduction from last season fumble snap......it was about 10 yards out so a mil for every yard........anyway Jerry is my kind of guy and he will make the right move....as for romo until he can get pass the 1st round of the playoffs then....i'll be 100% convinced is who he is........but in the meantime......i'll ride with him until the wheels fall off.......:blob2:
Whether he's worth the money or not isn't really the point. The simple matter is that if the Cowboys don't pay it, someone else will and the Turds will be back to where they were before Romo came in. Given the value of QB's and how many teams are always needed of a starter, even if he is given the non-exclusive franchise tag, some team will probably pay him and cough up two first round picks. The Turds need to either cough up now or make sure they have enough cap room for the exclusive franchise tag in the 08 cap (about $14m).
I think the sticky thing is the guaranteed part.....why don't they make it an incentive laiden contract that can easily get him to 30 mill?? If I were Jones that'd make me more comfortable...you play well...you get paid well...you go mediocre on us for a couple games at end of season...you don't get paid as much.
Because some team will probably give him close to $30m guaranteed without the incentives, so why would he take a deal that means he has to do certain things on top to earn it? If guards like Derrick Dockery are getting close to $50m contracts with near $20m up front, you can see why Romo thinks he can get $30m.
imo i think jj will some how give him what he wants or close to it.....i just dont see jj wanting to start the QB search all over again
