Typically I usually only state guys Ive watched. I only saw Monk towards the end

But just looking at his overall body of work, Monk is more a guy that played well over a long time, then a guy that was truely dominant

The numbers Hutson put up for his time period are ridiculous. He held something like 18 NFL records when he retired...in a league that only threw the ball 7 times a game....Hutson was dominating.

Irvin owned Deion so bad in Atlanta that he threw a he destoryed the sideline on MNF in 1993.......

Owens got shut down by a street free agent who got signed two weeks before in the 2006 wildcard

    Cherry picking.......yes. But speaks volumes

Then If i was to put together a true All time list, he would definatly be in the convo. Hard to pick someone over Rice, but he could bump Tim Brown (my #2) out of the #2 slot

1 year does not make a career..

The body of work is what I am talking about.. What you are saying is "KINDA" accurate.

That is like saying Tom Brady is only good cause he is in New England. I mean really dude. T.O. is a beast and is better than most all WR's to ever play the game.

T.O. also had 8 years of 10+ TD's.. Mike had 1.. just sayin

You completely miss the point of that comparison, and you seem to not understand the difference in the NFL from now as opposed to when Irvin, Carter, Sharpe, Reed, and brown were playing

1- Teams pass a WHOLE lot more now then they did then. 450 pass attempts then where typical. Now 600 pass's in a season for a team is the norm. So if your going to say #'s dont lie. They clearly do

2- 4 since 1996 have diluted the talent level across the NFL. Irvin never got shutdown by a scrub street free agent named Patrick Hunter who signed the week before in a playoff game like Owens did because he never had the chance too

3- Rule changes since 2000 have made it much easier to operate as a QB and WR. In 1992, a QB rating of 78 mean you were solid. Now it means your team is drafting a QB in the top 5

Stats lie like a coked out stripper telling a 45 year old fat divorcee that he is hot

And why Wards statement on Hutson is HIGHLY relevent to any "All Time greatest" discussion

Owens has won all of 4 playoff games in his whole career, and none since 2002

"As did almost all players in his day, Hutson played both offense and defense. On defense, Hutson was a very good safety who intercepted 30 passes over the final six years of his career. Hutson's highest season total was in 1943, when he intercepted eight passes in only 10 games. In 1940, he led the NFL with 6 interceptions."

Problem is that nowadays, bringing up Hutson is met with "Who???"

The guy was a beast any way you slice it...& kicked extra points & FGs. lol

No thanks. I've a steadfast rule not to get sucked into a useless 'stat war'. Stats are supplemental, not the whole story.

Every player I've mentioned, including a few more I'd pick over T.O., are players who I've watched thru-out their careers. I've never relied on a stat sheet to tell me who I should think is better than another.

    Dragonite Simply Arrogant!

I can name 5 people in the NFL TODAY that are better or will be better than Owens.

    Andre Johnson
    Larry Fitz
    Calvin Johnson
    Desean Jackson
    Brandon Marshall.

    There.

ESPN even ranks TO 9th all time and they are all about sucking Fantasy Football star's rods.

No one us bumping Rice...not yet. I also think if I were compiling a list, I'd lean towards putting Moss in at number 2...however, him taking plays off on the field whenever he wants, taking years off whenever he wants hurts hus value IMO.

I think an interesting debate would be one Hall if Fame spot left...Moss or Owens. Maybe start a new thread...
