Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer believes there will be a "groundswell" in the Panthers' locker room once the Browns release quarterback Jake Delhomme and he becomes a free agent. Friday night, Panthers center Ryan Kalil started a mini Twitter campaign to re-sign Delhomme after reading a story about the 36-year-old's impending release on Pro Football Talk. Kalil even posted a quote from Ron Rivera in which Carolina's new coach said, "We’ve got to talk about where we want to head as far as the veteran backup is concerned." The Panthers could sign Delhomme as a Cam Newton mentor, but there's no way they could put him on the field. His ideal role would be on the coaching staff. Source: Darin Gantt: Twitter.com
