Sony Pulls The Interview From Theaters

sony can recoup a lot of the budget back,but the owners of the movie theaters who did not show it for whatever reason,lost a shirt load in the end.just because it was so controversial,it would have made 50 million it's 1st weekend had the theater chains just had the guts to show it the 1st time.

 

Its gonna be an interesting case in the viability of digital media

nbc says sony made 20 million off of the interview this weekend and that includes pay per views.

 

I heard this morning that The Interview has made $31 million dollars from being streamed online.

 

If I was one of the major theater chains I would be looking into getting into the streaming service biz

Not really. If some kid has 3 buddies over and they rent it for $5.99 off of iTunes, there's a minimum loss of $17.97 there...not to mention realistically, whatever the loss in the theaters would be...$40-$50 minus whatever percentage a theater gets?

 

sony said yesterday they have made 40 million so far off of the movie. i still think if they had released it at the theater,they would have made a shirtload off of it.

 

Agree...they would've made a ton more on this...especially with the buzz around it.

 

have you seen it? it's an ok movie,but rogan has made better ones.
