Source Says Browns Have Hired Tom Heckert As GM

A person familiar with the hiring tells The Associated Press the Cleveland Browns have picked Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert to be their new GM. The person spoke Sunday on the condition of anonymity because the details of Heckert's contract have not been finalized and Heckert could join the team as early as Monday. Heckert, who has been the Eagles' GM since 2006, interviewed last week, two days before Holmgren announced he was bringing coach Eric Mangini back for a second season.

Not entirely sure how I feel about this.

 

i'm guessing that holmgren has given heckert more power. maybe heckert was sick of Reid having the ultimate say in personnel decisions and holmgren is giving him that power?
