    Ryan Howard breaks an MLB record by striking out 13 times in the WS. Mariano Rivera is the only closer of the 8 playoff teams to NOT blow a save. Hideki Matsui hit .619 in the WS, behind Babe Ruth who hit .625. The Yankees won the WS without getting a win from their #1 starter: Sabathia. The Yankees are the first team EVER to only use 3 pitchers and win the WS since there were 3 rounds of playoffs
