Madsen gave up a 1 out single which made me nervous, but then got 2 strikeouts to end it. I thought he might ruin Werth's Homer to take the lead.

I don't like when we take Werth out and but Gload in. Damn, we're not re-signing him.

 

the pitching is spotty right now but no need to panic, it's april.

btw - i remember saying i wasnt a fan of the ibanez signing. i stand by that statement for a couple of reasons.

1- his better days are behind him.

2- he will be the reason we don't re-sign werth. (see phillies asinine self imposed salary cap which led to letting lee go)

 

so its looks like we are going to have a typical arpil with this team. gotta hope the lnjured guys get back and help out but no reason to panic. still feel this team is going to win the division.

 

I wouldn't be worried at all. The Braves and Marlins are alright, but I really don't see those teams taking the division unless the Phillies just get killed with injuries.

 

I really wish we could let go of Ibanez and keep Werth... wishful thinking.

 

well it seems the mets have something to say about that right now.

 

the phillies HAVE TO find a way to re-sign werth. he is easily the team MVP so far this season.

haaa, we'll see. i am actually happy that this series has some meaning.

 

What concerns me is we have to think about re-singing Rollins as well soon. He's due after 2011 season. I know the Phils are thinking big$ for him, not sure if they are willing to spend $ on Werth.

 

agreed. persoanlly i think werth is damn there as important to the team as rollins (talent wise). he's a five tool player and and is a right handed bat in a heavily lefty line-up. dominc brown is a lefty so he deosnt fill the void that werth will leave.

so again we go back to the ibanez signing being a bad one because there is $12mil of the $15 werth is probably going to get.

hopefully the owners see it for what it is and pay werth while dealing with raul's contract for one year or if you can trade him and pay 1/2 the salary.

I was on a Bermuda cruise all of the past week, and the only game I got to watch was the Mets beating the Phils 9-1. I stayed up until 5am watching that abortion. Sounds like I missed a beauty in the comeback against the Giants. I'm really looking forward to watching the game tonight.
