Awesome win by the Phils tonight. Great to Kyle back in 2007 form with all of the ground balls. Too bad Jayson's streak of getting on base every game ended. Hopefully Roy will lead us to take 3 of 4 from the Cards tomorrow afternoon.
Great win, it would be nice to take 3/4 from the Cards. made it through a night without a field jumper. Did you hear the guy who went on the field last night had weed on him? What a freaking moron! Pujols is 3/13 in the series with a run scored. I just found out that his average against the phillies lifetime is like .265 - his worst against any team.
be nice to see halladay dominate again today. i am liking what i'm seeing from ligde so far. he has command of his fastball which sets up the slider. havent seen romero too much yet but with the way contreas is looking the back end of the bullpen suddenly looks strong. the starting rotation will get stronger especially when we get happ back. still be nice to have lee.
I'm so glad I'm home to watch the game, benefits of being in the car accident. Lidge is looking awesome. I really didn't think he'd be so under control with his pitches after all the surgeries. Kendrick did a nice job last night as well. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Goddammit, Castro. I don't like how this is the 2nd time this season it's been hurting him. It's nice how Halladay only gives up two runs, one which probably shouldn't have even been earned, when he doesn't have good stuff. 6-1. The pitching has been really strong lately.
Moyer becomes the oldest player in MLB history to throw a shutout. Great freaking game. couple of interesting tidbits In 2009 there was Domonic Brown, Michael Taylor, and Kyle Drabek (the so-called "Big Three"), 2009 was good to those guys -- they each wound up in the Top 30 of Baseball America's offseason prospect rankings -- but by the time 2010 rolled around, only one of them was still with the organization. Phils fans and prospectniks alike wondered aloud whether Ruben Amaro had made the right decision on which one to hold onto. Fast forward to May 2010, and while Drabek struggles to find his command in Double-A (5.1 BB/9) and Taylor is saddled with a .247/.314/.462 line, Dom Brown is firing on all cylinders. It's too early to definitely say that Amaro made the right call, but while Roy Halladay does his damnedest to validate the major league portion of the deal, Brown is trying to do the same for Amaro's decision to make him the chosen one.
Definitely too early, but the moves are looking good so far. Phillies starters currently have thrown 33 consecutive shutout innings against the Braves.
Game was boring today. At least from where I was sitting, Blanton looked good. Wish Utley played and glad they brought Ruiz in.
Too bad he came in due to an injury though. The Phils killed themselves with all of the runners LOB early in the game.
