Lee brought the arm and the bat. What a debut. Francisco subbing for the injured Shane has been good too.

I read an interesting article in the OC register. It went through how amaro learned from the trade deadline of 2003. It was that year that the phillies were trying to get schilling back from the diamondbacks and schilling had a no trade clause similar to halladay's. It really seemed like Schilling was coming back and the hold up was that Arizona wanted Hamels, Utley among the players they were asking for and the phillies held strong and Boston (who schilling said he would not approve a trade to) came in and scooped him up. They won the world series the next year. But, thanks to that we were able to keep utley and hamels and look where that got us. So, going on that experience, Amaro did not want to trade our top prospects to get Halladay, but was able to trade some lesser prospects to get someone nearly as good. Amaro may be a rookie as a GM, but he really seems to know what he is doing.

Thank god Happ is still a Phillie and thank god he's on my fantasy team :)

 

Happ should be out of the discussion as far as moving to the bullpen. Make a decision on Pedro or Moyer. Happ needs to be in the rotation.

the only problem with moyer is that he is due 6.5 million next year. I remember when he signed the deal last year and I remember thinking that was a mistake.

Lee with his second straight impressive start, 7 innings 9k's and one run and the Phillies win 3-1. 2 in a row after losing 4/5. AWESOME!!!

 

They signed Pedro under the agreement he'll be a starter so he's definitely not going to the bullpen. They aren't going to move Moyer to the pen because of his career wins & because of his age. I think it'll ruin him, I don't think he is in it mentally to get up and pitch in the middle of a game. As much as I like Happ as a starter, he's proven he can pitch in the pen. I think he's going to go back there till they have room for him as a starter. Unless they decide to go for a 6 man rotation.

If anyone has said any of this already, sorry, I haven't gone back and read any of the other posts. Just this one page.

 

amaro already said that happ will remain a starter.

 

I can't see them putting Moyer in the pen. I really can't.

 

I can see them doing that, but I also don't see him being effective from the pen, not much different than him being ineffective as a starter though.
