A smaller running back carrying that kind of load in todays NFL doesnt equal a long career anymore

His base salary for the year is way low, but his total contract is worth 12 million, with 7 guaranteed. 7 should be plenty to live off of if something horrible should happen to him on the field. If he was a 5th round pick who somehow slipped through the cracks, I'd fully support the holdout, but come on, 7 million guaranteed. I'm too poor too think he needs more money than that, until he plays out the current contract anyways.

dude, how poor are you? to have a decent standard of living and something of a decent retirement, especially on the coasts, a regular person has to make several million dollars during their adult work life, especially if they're going to have kids/college tuitions/etc. in there somewhere .........

and you and I aren't athletes that are going to live with the aches/pains that nfl players deal with the rest of their lives ...........

c.j. absolutely should get a new contract asap. he just shouldn't be the highest paid offensive player in the league.

Poor in comparison to an athlete is all I meant. 7 million is far more than the average person will make in their lifetime. The mean household income in the United States is right around $60,000.

ok, well i'm talking about someone who is college educated and/or very good at what they do, no matter what that is .......... the avg. household income in this country is immensely skewed by the losers living off the system. Any normal middle class neighborhood in this country has household incomes of $100,000 to $200,000 and that's what it takes to raise a family, have a decent standard of living, pay for college, and save for retirement ....... at a MINIMUM ........ and you need even more if you live on the coasts or in Chicago.

c.j. is very good at what he does, has a small window of years to earn his money, and will have aches/pains that the rest of us don't have to deal with........ he should be making WAY more than the avg household income .......
