A source claims Saints cornerback Roman Harper and linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar earned $200 rewards for "whack" hits in their January playoff win over the Lions, according to Yahoo! Sports. Harper and Dunbar likely will not receive discipline for this involvement in the three-year investigation into the Saints bounty saga. Harper remains with the Saints, but Dunbar has since signed with the Rams. According to Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports, two unnamed NFL Players Association members claim the "whack" hits are forceful but clean and legal plays by defenders, and thus are far less severe of violations than that of the bounty system implemented by former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. It had been known that Saints players received rewards for hits during the 45-28 win vs. the Lions in the NFL Wild-Card round, but the audio recording provided by documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon in April did not reveal the names of those players to protect them from potential league discipline.
