  1. The Panthers hired 42-year- old receivers coach Tyke Tolbert to replace the 68-year-old Richard Williamson, who retired last week. The former Buffalo assistant's reputation in league circles is of a tireless worker and an enthusiastic instructor, specifically for young players, that was evident in his practices with the Bills, when he would occasionally don full pads and a helmet to emphasize his blocking technique lessons to his players. "That got everybody's attention, he was talking about it early in the year, but then he came out all suited up, and you know he was serious." said second-year Bills receiver Steve Johnson.
