:agreed: This ^^^^^^^ x 3. Exactly why your James Harrison's of this world are no longer playing with the clubs they may want to play for and the clubs the fans want them to play for. I'm all for capitalism and free agency, but the agents and the players are really freaking it up for current and future players. Too bad it takes only one organization to heck it up for everyone. Now players are going to look to this ridiculous signing as some type of benchmark. That said, the owner(s) are just as culpable...they sign the checks. Just wish they'd violate collusion laws just once and all agree to stop this madness.
Good post that makes sense. But at the end of the day it's the fans that have to pay for the unfortunates (Buffalo et al.). $443.93 is the average cost to go to a game for a family of four, unless you're a Dallas fan. Now you're looking at $634.78. So your point is well-taken using the "Fan Barometer". The scary thing is the NFL is a $15 billion dollar industry and Roger GODell has set the bar at $25 billion in ten years.
But to tie up 10% of your cap to a guy like that, who might catch the ball 8 times a game, is insane and waaaaay over paid. Imagine what Calvin Johnson could get now?!? Starting point is $13M a season...lol.
