RAW Preview for 7/23/07 from WWE.com:

John Cena overcame another massive challenge to his WWE Championship when he defeated Bobby Lashley in a classic at The Great American Bash. Meanwhile, Candice Michelle cemented her hold on the Women’s Championship with a hard-fought victory over Melina. These two champions will unite when team up on Raw to take on Intercontinental Champion Umaga and World Tag Team Champions Cade & Murdoch in the first-ever Champions Only Match.

One Superstar who had a milestone victory at The Bash was Randy Orton, who defeated Dusty Rhodes in a Texas Bull Rope Match to add another conquest to his long list of destroyed legends. However, Orton tried to severely injure the American Dream with a vicious punt to the head, but Dusty’s son Cody intervened.

Cody, who would have suffered the same fate on Raw last week if his father had not stepped in, is now going to try to avenge his family when he challenges Orton in a rematch Monday night. Will Cody Rhodes teach Orton a lesson?

Find out the answers to these questions and more on Raw on Monday night at 9pm et, 8pm ct on USA Network

SACREMENTO, Calif. A vacant, cold yet familiar stare enveloped Randy Ortons face as he inspected his carnage. The sides of his jaw quivered and his nostrils flared slightly. Some of our fans at the Arco Arena craned their necks as they tried to get a better look at Ortons handiwork.

Meanwhile, WWE Champion John Cena lay motionless inside the ring his eyes were shut and his chest heaved up and down. The Champ was just the latest Superstar to feel the wrath of Ortons lethal RKO, but this time, the third-generation star had a special message: Im coming for your WWE Championship, Cena. Youre mine at SummerSlam.

Cena never saw the RKO coming. He and Womens Champion Candice Michelle had just defeated World Tag Team Champions Cade & Murdoch and Intercontinental Champion Umaga in the first-ever Champions Only No-Disqualification Match on Raw. He was still basking in the afterglow of the successful defense of the WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley in a classic encounter at The Great American Bash. But still, Cena and the capacity crowd and millions of fans worldwide wondered who acting Raw GM Jonathan Coachman would name the No. 1 contender and Cenas opponent for SummerSlam. A sudden RKO and the announcement from Coach at the end of Raw answered all questions.

Orton had been a busy man Monday night. He left fans and Superstars in tears earlier that night when he nearly caved in the beloved American Dream Dusty Rhodes skull with a boot to the head. In recent months, Orton has taken sadistic pleasure in trying to put an end to careers. But besides adding careers especially those of legends to his trophy case, Orton has long coveted one prize, the WWE Championship. He not only sees the championship as the pinnacle of sports-entertainment; he believes it is his destiny. Orton has begged and pleaded for a one-on-one match with Cena for the WWE Championship for months, and has only received opportunities where multiple competitors were involved,

Three years ago, Orton made history when he won the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam and became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history. But his championship reign only lasted one month, and Ortons career has failed to reach similar heights ever since. Ortons wrestling pedigree is second-to-none. Maybe no one is as naturally-gifted. Perhaps no one in WWE has taken their opportunity for granted more than Orton, either. And deep down, Orton knows it. Maybe that explains his fetish for legends and ending careers.

But now Orton has an opportunity to silence his critics and perhaps prove something to himself. He has a chance to exorcise his own demons and fulfill his destiny. And that may make him more dangerous than ever. Beware John Cena youre in the RKOs crosshairs.

    RAW Results for 7/23/07:

King Booker and Queen Sharmell entered the royal ring. Booker offered Jerry Lawler an opportunity to enter the ring for a "kingly compromise". Booker said he earned his name as King by winning the King of the Ring tournament last year. He said you can't just go around calling yourself King, like the Sacramento Kings. He asked how they can be called King when they haven't won anything, and the only thing they've ever won was due to a crooked referee. Booker suggested they rename the shame of a franchise to the Sacramento Peasants. Jerry said you can't be a king if your kingdom doesn't think you're a king, and it sounds like the fans don't think much of Booker. Jerry called him a pompous pain in the arse and laid him out.

Melina & Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James & Maria w/Santino Marella: Santino joined commentary. The heels beat down on Maria until she tagged in Mickie to clean house. Maria tagged back in and hit a flying cross body on Melina, but Beth broke up the cover. Santino got tired of all the cheating, so he tripped both heels, allowing Maria to hit a bulldog on Melina to score the pin.

Gerald Brisco had some advice for Cody Rhodes before they were interrupted by Randy Orton. Cody told Orton he didn't finish off Dusty last night because he was afraid. Randy said Cody is the one who should be afraid. He gave Cody the chance to get out of tonight's match, but he declined. A promo for Snitsky aired.

Elsewhere, Todd Grisham asked John Cena what he thought about teaming up with Candice Michelle tonight. John told Todd to close his eyes and imagine Candice as his "partner", before making him imagine being interrupted by the cast of Brokeback Mountain, referring to Cade and Murdoch. Riveting stuff. I thought Brokeback Mountain jokes were outlawed sometime last year. Cena said that might be a nightmare for Todd Grisham, but it's reality for John Cena. Cena said he's beaten Shawn Michaels, Great Khali and Bobby Lashley. He's basically on his own tonight, and he doesn't care who Coach chooses as number one contender tonight.

Sandman & Jim Duggan vs. William Regal & Carlito: Carlito won with a backcracker to Duggan. After a break, Carlito told Regal backstage that things are finally going his way and he should be the new number one contender. He took a bit of apple but didn't want to swallow it for some reason, so he turned around and spit it out. Unfortunately, he spit on Lashley. Carlito ran back to the ring and apologized, even though he didn't think he should have to apologize. Lashley entered to new music and Carlito attacked him. Carlito tried to whip Bobby into the steps, but he leapt right over them and chased after Carlito,
giving him a powerslam in the ring.

Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes: They put Orton over strong here. He dominated most of the match and stopped any momentum shift for Cody. Randy ducked a flying crossbody and hit an RKO for the win. Orton was ready to kick Cody's head off but Dusty ran out and knocked him out of the ring. As Dusty checked on Cody, Orton slid back in the ring and kicked Dusty in the head. Medical staff ran out to attend to Dusty Rhodes and he was carried off into a stretcher. Later, they showed Dusty being taken off in an ambulance.

Mr. Kennedy vs. Jeff Hardy: Kennedy had control early but Hardy responded by hitting a flipping senton to the outside. After a break, Kennedy hit an Alabama Slam to regain control. Jeff tried the Whisper in the Wind but he slipped off the ropes and landed badly in the ring. Kennedy covered Jeff after the ref checked him out but Hardy kicked out. Hardy went for it again and hit the spot, followed by his usual comeback offence. He went up for a Swanton Bomb but Kennedy rolled out of the ring. Jeff ran the rails and clotheslined Kennedy off the barricade. Hardy then knocked Kennedy's head off the stage and ran back into the ring and Kennedy was counted out.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The World's Greatest Tag-Team: Heels worked over Kendrick until he tagged London and they cleaned house. Kendrick missed a pescado and landed hard on the outside. WGTT hit the leapfrog guillotine followed by a German Suplex pin by Haas for the win.

King Booker challenged Jerry Lawler to a match next week. Lawler said he would prove why everyone has been calling him King for the past 30 years. Elsewhere, Candice Michelle asked Coach to take her out of this match, but he didn't.

Umaga, Cade & Murdoch vs. Candice Michelle & John Cena - No Disqualification: Cena jumped right into the fire but it did him no good and the heels took him down easily. Cena began making a comeback but Umaga nailed him with a swinging sideslam. Cade and Murdoch held down Candice for Umaga, but Jeff Hardy ran out and knocked Umaga around with a steel chair and sent him all the way to the back. Cena quickly disposed of the tag team champions, pinning Murdoch after an FU. After the match, Randy Orton sneaked behind John Cena and hit an RKO. Coachman came out to make it official - Randy Orton will face John Cena at SummerSlam.

I was so heckin happy when Jeff won his match

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – After Jeff Hardy defeated Mr. Kennedy on a night where the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship was set to be named, many in the Arco Arena believed that the rainbow-haired daredevil would be the next in line to challenge John Cena.

Hardy, on the other hand, had another target in his sights. One night after falling victim to the Intercontinental Champion’s Samoan Spike, Jeff Hardy crossed paths with the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga once again. This time, he came to the ring with a steel chair in hand.

Falling short of winning Intercontinental gold just 24 hours earlier, Jeff bashed Umaga with repeated chair blows during the Samoan Bulldozer’s Champions Only Match. Hardy was relentless as Umaga retreated to the locker room, where they were separated by WWE officials.

    RAW Preivew from WWE.com:

    Royal Battle - July 30, 2007

For years, Jerry Lawler safely ruled Raw as its one and only crowned man. Kingdoms have clashed since King Booker’s arrival, and now the two Superstars are set to determine which one is truly Raw’s king. On Monday, the debate will be settled once and for all.

Also, we all know Randy Orton will do anything to get an advantage on the competition. In fact, he got to work quickly, hitting Cena with a brutal RKO before Jonathan Coachman even named the third-generation Superstar the No. 1 contender to the WWE Championship. How will the WWE Champion respond to the attack? Will he be able to counter Orton’s methods of gaining the momentum as we move toward SummerSlam?

Last week, Mr. Kennedy found himself in another disappointing contest when he fell to Jeff Hardy via count-out. Will Raw’s cockiest Superstar find his rhythm again and start backing up his words with some wins?

Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on Monday Night Raw at 9pm et, 8pm ct on USA Network.

WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios told WWE.com that Lashley suffered a possible rotator cuff tear from Kennedy’s kick to his left shoulder. Further updates will be available Tuesday at WWE.com as soon as more information is made available.

    RAW Results from 7/30:

John Cena came out to start the show. He cut a cutesy promo about how he will retain his title against Randy Orton like he always does. Carlito came out and said they would be bringing back Carlito’s Cabana. He pointed out that he beat Cena for the United States title. Cena dismissed Carlito by making jokes about how long ago that was. Mr. Kennedy then came out, and childishly bickered with Carlito over who deserves a title shot more. Cena challenged each man to prove himself, and suggested Kennedy vs. Lashley and Carlito vs. Cena.

Melina, Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall defeated Maria, Mickie James and Candice Michelle. The women looked really motivated, although the match was on the sloppy side. The heels worked over Candice briefly, but Candice hit a side Russian leg sweep and made the tag to Maria. Maria hit some clotheslines and a bulldog on Melina. Candice was sent to the outside and landed on Santino. With Santino distracted, Melina and Jillian hit a double team face buster on Maria for the pin. After a commercial break, Santino was complaining in the ring. He said he was disgusted by the officiating, and blamed the referee for missing the double team. The crowd treated this as total comedy. Umaga came down to the ring, at which point Santino said he has no problem with Umaga and asked the referee to please stop him. The referee instead called for the bell. Umaga quickly destroyed Santino again with a running butt drop and Samoan spike. This was an amusing segment.

King Booker backstage said that Jerry's reign as king is over, and that HHH can watch it on TV. Elsewhere, Randy Orton said that nobody wants to face him, and he will win the title at SummerSlam like he did in 2004. Sgt. Slaughter made a cameo and challenged Orton to a match.

Cody Rhodes defeated Daivari with a clothesline, crossbody, bulldog and DDT. Prior to the match, Cody Rhodes spoke with Coach. Coach said he didn’t want to see Cody hurt like Dusty. As such, he said that if Cody laid a finger on Randy Orton, he would no longer have a career on Raw. He added that if Cody won this match, he would get to stay on Raw but if he lost he would be gone.

Mr. Kennedy pinned Bobby Lashley. Lashley hit a vertical suplex early, but Kennedy took over by kicking Lashley’s shoulder into the ring steps. Kennedy went after the shoulder and arm for the rest of the match. Lashley tried to fight back with clotheslines and went for the spear, but he ran into a knee. Kennedy then scored the pin.

Jerry Lawler beat King Booker via DQ. The crowd seemed really into this. Booker hit some forearms, and Lawler retaliated with punches. Lawler hit an elbow drop, but Booker got his foot on the ropes. Booker hit a thrust kick, and then kept punching Lawler in the corner. Eventually he was disqualified. Lawler attacked Booker again after the match.

Cryme Tyme beat John Mason and Brandon Dentson with the G9. After the match, Cryme Tyme sold off the loser’s boots for $40. That was a cool idea.

Randy Orton beat Sgt. Slaughter. Orton spent much of the match applying a headlock. It was quite the headlock. Eventually it was broken, and Slaughter used the cobra clutch. Orton got to the ropes, hit the RKO, and scored the pin. He kicked Slaughter in the head after the match for good measure and Slaughter was carried out on a stretcher.

Carlito beat John Cena. Cena dominated much of the match. He hit some shoulder blocks and the Cena slam. He was going for the five knuckle shuffle when Orton attempted to interfere. I say attempt because it didn’t quite work. But in any event, Carlito hit the back stabber from behind for the pin. After the match Carlito spit apple in Cena’s face
