RAW Preview for 6/30 - Credit goes to WWE.com:

After Night of Champions, where Raw Superstars suffered three prominent losses, the Monday night brand is left with no World Championship. Perhaps more important, though, is the fact that WWE is currently without its Chairman.

During last week’s Draft, WWE Champion Triple H was randomly selected to SmackDown, taking his title with him. On Sunday night, John Cena had a chance to bring the title back to Raw, but was unable to defeat The Game. Similarly, Batista attempted to win Edge’s World Heavyweight Championship, but couldn’t come out on top against the Master Manipulator.

The one World Title that Raw did hold going into Night of Champions was Kane’s ECW Championship, but in a Triple Threat Match against Mark Henry and Big Show, the Big Red Machine lost the gold to the World’s Strongest Man, who will take the championship back to Tuesday nights with him. With Cena, Batista and Kane all unable to win or hold onto gold, where will these three competitors set their focus next?

Another Raw Superstar that suffered a devastating loss at Night of Champions was Chris Jericho, defending his title against surprise opponent, Kofi Kingston. Y2J and the capacity crowd in Dallas were shocked as the Jamaican Superstar made a huge splash in his first match since joining the Raw roster. Another surprise entrance was made by Shawn Michaels, who was unable to compete due to an eye injury. HBK distracted Jericho long enough for Kingston to take control of the match, pinning Y2J. Following the match, Y2J took brutal revenge against HBK, assaulting him outside the ring. With the Intercontinental Championship acting as Raw’s main singles title, will Kingston and his unorthodox style be able to hang onto the championship? And what is in store for Chris Jericho when HBK returns to in-ring competition?

One of Night of Champions’ biggest surprises came during the World Tag Team Championship Match. For weeks, Ted DiBiase had promised to win the gold from champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes, along with the help of his mystery partner. On Sunday, the mystery partner was revealed to be Rhodes, who turned on Holly, and helped DiBiase make good on his promise to win a championship in his first WWE match. Why would Rhodes turn against his partner and mentor, and what steps will Hardcore Holly take to get revenge?

While multiple championships changed hands Sunday night, Mr. McMahon’s condition was still unknown following a bizarre accident last week on Raw. At the end of the evening, the stage on which the WWE Chairman stood on collapsed, followed by a ton of lighting equipment crashing down on him, incapacitating Mr. McMahon and causing Million Dollar Mania to be indefinitely suspended. When the McMahon family gives a statement this Monday on Raw, what will we learn about the Chairman’s condition, and how will the landscape of sports-entertainment be affected in Mr. McMahon’s absence?

For the answers to all these questions and more, tune into Monday Night Raw at 9pm et, 8pm ct only on USA Network.

At the start of the show, Shane McMahon said that Vince McMahon is in fact really a private person. Shane further declared we won’t be forthcoming with his physical condition. Shane called for the people to pull together in this time of uncertainty.

Jim Ross came out to give a farewell statement. Ross said that it was an honor to be at home. He said that he is excited to be the voice of Smackdown, which was booed. He thanked Jerry Lawler and put over Michael Cole as a hard worker and a friend. Cole was of course not warmly received, but he did a good job in his first week. Ross added that he hopes fans will join him on Smackdown. Edge eventually interrupted . Edge criticized Ross for being arrogant and said that nobody cares about him. Edge said now Ross will get to commentate for him, but Ross wasn’t having it. So Edge had the Naturals escort Ross from the building. Edge pointed out Raw has no GM and no world champion, and added that Raw wrestlers will never have another shot at his title. He gloated and started to leave, but Batista came out. Batista assaulted Edge and laid him out with a Batista bomb. At that point, CM Punk ran out with a referee and cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase. He hit the GTS and scored the pin.

Mickie James beat Jillian Hall. Mickie won the match with punches, a spinning head scissors on the floor and a head kick for the pin.

Rey Mysterio came out for an introduction speech. Lilian Garcia pronounced his name correctly, so props to her. Rey congratulated Punk and said he’s happy to be on Raw. Santino interrupted. He welcomed Rey but said anyone who hides behind a mask is either incredibly ugly, incredibly stupid or the Bat Man. Santino complained about Rey appearing on the cover of WWE Magazine instead of Santino. Santino finally gave Rey a chance to speak, but Rey attacked him and gave him the 619.

Punk backstage thanked Batista for the assist and said he feels awesome. JBL came in and asked how Punk could feel good about winning a title by defeating a defenseless man. Who’s the heel here? JBL called Punk a paper champion and an asterisk and challenged him to a title match. Punk accepted.

John Cena came out, and put over his match with HHH as a match that will go down in history. He further talked about how Punk winning the title will go down in history. He noted that he likes Punk because Punk used his brains and would accept a challenge from anyone. He said he should wrestle Punk for the title, and asked fans whether they would rather see Punk face JBL or Cena. JBL interrupted, and announced he is declaring martial law. JBL brought in private security, and together they removed Cena from the building.

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase beat Darren Wade and Steve Anthony. DiBiase used his father’s fist drop and Cody hit a DDT for the pin. After the match, Cody said that fans wanted to know why he turned on Hardcore Holly. He said that paying his dues sucked when he had to carry Holly’s worthless career. Cody added that he’s not patient, and he’s too talented to have to pay dues. DiBiase asserted that young people are nothing but obedient sheep, while they took matters into their own hands.

Jamie Noble introduced himself to Katie Lea. He said he’s going to get respect on Raw prison rules style, by going up to the biggest guy and drawing the line in the sand. Kane was there, so Katie encouraged him to prove his point against Kane. Noble told Kane not to listen to his Larry the Cable Guy tapes without his permission. Kane grabbed him by the throat, but Noble kicked him and ran away. Kane chased him to the ring and choke slammed him on the announce table.

Chris Jericho came to the ring and said he was swindled out of the title and burglarized and the fans cheered at his misfortune. Jericho continued that Shawn Michaels’ eye is a serious problem and he is endangering himself by continuing. Jericho challenged Michaels to a match at the Great American Bash and said he would take something valuable from Shawn Michaels. Kofi Kingston then beat Chris Jericho via DQ. Jericho slapped him around and worked him over. Kingston came back with a leg drop, but Jericho hit an enzuigiri, bulldog and lionsault. Kingston rolled up Jericho and grabbed the tights, but Jericho rolled through and grabbed the tights himself. At this point, the referee disqualified Jericho. Jericho attacked Kofi and went after his eye.

CM Punk beat JBL. JBL’s security was at ringside. Punk used an arm drag and knees. JBL hit a clothesline on the floor and followed with a sleeper. Punk hit a bulldog, high knee and springboard clothesline. John Cena and Cryme Tyme showed up and took out the private security. That allowed Punk to hit go 2 sleep for the pin.

    Preview: Punk vs. the World

    July 7, 2008

After seeing the WWE Championship move to SmackDown, and failing to win a World Championship back to Raw at Night of Champions, Monday nights once again have a World Title. CM Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to challenge and defeat Edge, bringing the World Heavyweight Championship to Raw and even going on to defend it in the same night against JBL. Though Raw suffered a dearth of World Titles for a period, there is no lack of former World Champions, eager to end the Straightedge Superstar’s title reign, including John Cena, Batista and JBL. Which of these men will step forward in search of gold, and will Punk be able to hold them off?

Though Raw is no longer lacking a World Title, there is a conspicuous absence on the program in the form of Mr. McMahon. The WWE Chairman was injured at the end of the June 23 Raw when the set collapsed and he was buried underneath a ton of lighting equipment. His son, Shane McMahon addressed the WWE Universe on Monday, but opted to keep his father’s condition a private matter. Are Mr. McMahon’s injuries worse than originally thought? And how will Raw function in the vacuum left by the incapacitated Chairman?

Proving that his Night of Champions win over Chris Jericho was no fluke, new Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston successfully defended his title in a rematch against Y2J. With the Jamaican Superstar being such a new member of the Raw roster, will he be able to maintain the gold around his waist?

A bitter Jericho blamed his Night of Champions loss on Shawn Michaels for interfering in the match, and even challenged HBK to a match at The Great American Bash in just three weeks, asking the injured Superstar to have an answer on Raw next week. We’ve seen explosive interactions between HBK and Y2J in recent weeks. What will their confrontation on next week’s Raw have in store?

One of Raw’s most exciting draftees was Rey Mysterio, who had been on SmackDown for his entire WWE career. On Monday, the Master of the 619 was interrupted by Santino Marella as he was greeting the Raw audience. The Italian Superstar belittled the Ultimate Underdog, prompting Mysterio to attack Marella and break out the 619. Santino Marella has shown that he isn’t one to let an insult go, and Rey Mysterio has never been known to back down from a fight. How will the Italian Superstar retaliate against the former World Champion?

For the answers to these questions and more, make sure to watch Raw on Monday at 9pm et, 8pm ct only on USA Network.

Stephanie McMahon started the show by saying that there was chaos last week. She implored the wrestlers to come together and work as one. Stephanie’s speech fit into the theme of the show, which was all sorts of bizarre happenings with no one to steer the ship.

Vickie Guerrero was in the ring to start the show and did her 'excuse me' routine. She demanded Punk come out, give back the title he stole, and apologize. Punk came out and got a nice reaction, as they wisely had him play off the heat magnet Vickie. Vickie said Edge’s world is falling apart and Punk ruined her life. Punk said that what goes around comes around and he didn’t do anything to Edge that Edge didn’t do to others. Vickie said the difference is Edge’s opponents weren’t getting married. Punk said Vickie can find someone else, like maybe Great Khali. Vickie got out of her wheelchair to slap Punk. Punk was going to roll her out of the ring when JBL came out. JBL challenged Punk to a title match. Punk said JBL had his shot and lost.

John Cena came out and cut another really lame comedy promo about JBL making excuses. Cena is a tremendous performer but they’re testing even what he can do with this god awful material. Cena suggested he wrestle JBL for a shot at Punk. Batista joined the proceedings. He said Punk deserves to be champion, but wanted a title shot. Cena suggested a triple threat and that was agreed upon, but then Kane came out and it became a four way.

Rey Mysterio beat Santino Marella. Rey dominated most of the match, with a spinning head scissors, double foot stomp, springboard senton, 619 and splash off the top for the pin.

CM Punk was doing an interview backstage when all of a sudden a light fell down randomly right in front of Punk. Snitsky came in and said Punk doesn’t deserve to be champion, so Punk challenged him to a match.

Mickie James and John Cena were chatting when Kelly Kelly came in. Mickie told Cena that Kelly is now Raw’s new diva. Cena asked Kelly how she ended up on Raw and whether Teddy Long let her out of her contract. Kelly responded, 'We have contracts?' Cena turned to the camera and said 'God bless America.'

Kelly Kelly and Mickie James beat Jillian Hall and Layla. Layla pushed Kelly off the apron, and Jillian threw her by the hair. Jillian went for the handspring elbow, but Kelly dove onto her shoulders and used a victory roll for the pin. The finish was cool.

John Cena and Cryme Tyme destroyed JBL’s limousine for comedy. Cena spray painted 'JBL is poopy' on it.

CM Punk beat Snitsky. Punk hit leg kicks. Snitsky retaliated with stomps and a bear hug. Punk hit an enzuigiri, springboard clothesline, high knee and go 2 sleep for the pin.

Shawn Michaels came out and accepted a match with Chris Jericho. Jericho and Lance Cade joined him. Jericho said Michaels is stupid because he continues to fight on despite serious injuries. Jericho said this makes Michaels the injured legend, but he’ll become a forgotten martyr. Michaels responded that Jericho wants to be him, but no matter what he does he can never be Michaels.

Kofi Kingston beat Charlie Haas. Haas got in a little offense with punches and kicks. Kingston won with the springboard crossbody, high leg drop, and trouble in paradise. After the match, Paul Burchill jumped Kofi Kingston.

Batista won a four way over Kane, JBL and John Cena. Batista gave JBL a spine buster, and Kane gave Batista a choke slam. Cena went for the FU on Kane, but JBL kicked Cena in the head. Cena hit the FU on Batista but JBL broke up the pin. Cena went for the five knuckle shuffle on JBL, but Kane cut him off with a clothesline. Cena got the STFU on JBL but Kane broke it. JBL whipped Cena into the steps on the outside. Back in the ring Kane missed a clothesline off the top and Batista speared him for the pin. After the match, Kane threw a temper tantrum. He repeatedly yelled out, 'Is he alive or dead?' Presumably he wants to know if Vince survived the accident. Kane started beating up production people. He dragged Michael Cole into the ring and had Cole up for the choke slam when Jerry Lawler broke it with a chop block. Kane attacked Lawler to end the show.

    The Animal's Big Bash
    July 14, 2008

Since CM Punk became World Heavyweight Champion, he has been mobbed by Superstars hoping to get their opportunity to win it away from him. With neither a General Manager or the WWE Chairman to set matches, last Monday night saw John Cena, Batista, Kane and JBL face off in a Fatal Four Way Match to determine which of them should face Punk at The Great American Bash. Batista won the contest and will compete for the World Title in just two short weeks. How will The Animal garner momentum in the coming weeks?

After Batista pinned Kane in the Fatal Four Way, the Big Red Monster went on a rampage outside the ring, manhandling WWE production crew and announcers alike, including Jerry Lawler. While tearing apart the ringside area, Kane screamed 'Is he alive or is he dead?' Who is the Big Red Monster referring to, and what other outbursts can we expect from him in the coming weeks? Who is "He"?

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston won his title from Chris Jericho at Night of Champions, and managed to successfully defend it against Y2J. On Monday he continued his winning streak on Raw by defeating Charlie Haas. Before the Jamaican Champion could soak in his victory however, he was brutally assaulted by Paul Burchill, who performed his signature Curb Stomp on Kingston. Does Burchill have his eye on Kingston’s Intercontinental Title? And how long until he faces the Jamaican Superstar in the ring?

In addition to facing one another as part of a Fatal Four Way, John Cena took an extra act of retribution against JBL on Monday Night. Retaliating for being escorted out by the self-made millionaire’s private security force the week before, Cena and Cryme Tyme took crowbars and baseball bats to JBL’s limo. To what lengths will the Longhorn Loudmouth go to get back at the Chain Gang Commander?

To catch all the build up to The Great American Bash, make sure to tune into Raw on Monday at 9pm et, 8pm ct only on USA Network

The cameras immediately cut to a brawl between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. Kane then came out with a bag. He apologized to Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole and then left. Michaels and Jerico continued fighting backstage.

Mickie James beat Katie Lea. Katie pulled Mickie by the hair, and then we got what will make for the greatest gif in the history of the internet. The camera zoomed in really close on Katie’s cleavage as she seemingly smothered Mickie with her breasts (she had a headlock on). Words cannot do this mesmerizing sight justice. Anyway, Mickie came back with the huracanrana and the Lou Thesz press off the top for the pin.

Kofi Kingston beat Paul Burchill. After Katie and Mickie’s match, Katie and Paul Burchill went after Mickie. Kofi made the save and issued an impromptu challenge to set up this match with Mickie and Katie in the corners. Kofi used a series of leap frogs, a dropkick, punches, a clothesline, a side Ghanan leg sweep and a high leg drop. Katie got up on the apron, but Mickie pulled her off and Kofi hit trouble in paradise for the pin.

Santino and Matt Striker met backstage. Santino said he had an open invitation for the entire locker room to fight him, and that he would beat someone up. Kane showed up and asked Santino where CM Punk was. 'Did you try the Pepsi machine?,' responded Santino. Kane found Punk, and said that he knows 'he' is dead. Kane wanted Punk in the ring one-on-one. Punk accepted in order to prove himself. Punk asked Kane about the bag but Kane just laughed and walked off.

John Cena cut a promo backstage. JBL apparently challenged Cena to a New York City parking lot brawl in Long Island. Cena cut a serious promo about the match, putting it over as a horrible war where two men fight in a parking lot surrounded by cars. Cena talked about the violence of the match and threatened to do horrible things to JBL. He accepted the match and then challenged JBL and two partners to wrestle Cena and Cryme Tyme on Raw. He concluded, 'You want some, come get some.' This was a tremendous promo by Cena. The material was much better and the serious delivery works significantly better for him.

Santino came to the ring and wanted to know who had the canoles to accept his challenge. He said they would be deaf meat. Beth Phoenix of all people came out. She hit punches, a body slam, and after Santino missed a charge in the corner she rolled him up for the pin.

Kelly Kelly came to the ring, but Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes interrupted her and told her to leave. So she left. Cody said that they aren’t bad people, but actually good people and better than their fathers. They reiterated that they are so talented they don’t have to pay dues. Hacksaw Jim Duggan came out, and said he has known them and their fathers for years. Duggan said that he always appreciated the people who paved the way. Duggan put Rhodes and DiBiase over as performers, but said as people they have got a lot of growing up to do. Duggan started to leave, but Cody said, 'Let’s talk about this.' He said that Duggan made some valid points, but then made fun of Duggan for being old and trying to relive glory days that weren’t all that glorious. DiBiase called Duggan pathetic and said that if anyone needs to grow up it’s Duggan. Duggan was very sad, and they left. JBL appeared on the screen, and got DiBiase and Rhodes to team with him in the main event.

CM Punk beat Kane via count out. They had a text poll on which champion is most at risk Sunday. They really pushed that it would be Punk, and the poll results agreed, which suggests Punk is retaining. Punk and Kane traded punches and kicks. Punk hit a roaring elbow, spinning back fist, high kick, enzuigiri, high knees and a crossbody off the top. Punk went for the GTS, but Kane escaped. Kane went for the choke slam, but Punk escaped. Punk hit a bulldog off the apron on Kane, and Kane was counted out. Kane threw chairs into the ring after the match and attacked Punk. He went to break Punk’s neck with a chair, but Batista made the save with a spear. Punk offered to shake hands, but Batista said he’s not Punk’s friend and was just protecting his title shot. Punk shoved Batista and Batista laid out Punk with a spine buster, further suggesting Punk’s title is safe for now.

Chris Jericho beat Paul London. Jericho hit a head butt, kick to the head, clothesline, double arm suplex into a back breaker, and applied the Walls for the tap. After the match Jericho cut a silly promo with a serious delivery. He said that London can follow Shawn Michaels’ path to deceit, lies, disgrace and pain or follow his road to honor, integrity and greatness. Michaels came out and said that while Jericho doesn’t know the meaning of righteousness or truth, he is right that at the Bash the worst is yet to come.

Jamie Noble backstage suggested to Layla that they could be Raw’s power couple. Layla said that she doesn’t date short men, so the rumors of Kevin Nash joining the WWE writing team may be true. Noble said he would prove himself by beating up the next guy to arrive. It was Snitsky, and Noble challenged Snitsky to a fight in the ring. In the ring Snitsky kicked Noble in the head and laid him out with a pump handle slam. Layla seemed sympathetic towards Noble so maybe they will get together.

John Cena and Cryme Tyme beat JBL, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase via DQ. The heels worked over Shad and then JTG, until Cena eventually tagged in. He hit shoulder blocks on Cody, and a Cena slam, five knuckle shuffle and FU on DiBiase. He followed with a top rope rocker dropper on Cody and applied the STFU. JBL broke this up with a kick and inexplicably he was dq'ed. After the match, JBL called John Cena to follow him to the back. Cena pursued, and ended up wandering around the parking lot looking for JBL. JBL hit Cena from behind with a pipe, leaned him against a car, and supposedly tried to drive another car straight into Cena’s head. According to WWE.com, Cena was 'grazed' by the car and escaped.

    RAW Results for 7/21:

At the beginning of the show, Batista was shown leaving the production truck. Batista made his way to the ring and blamed Kane for costing him the title. He said that since Shane and Stephanie weren’t there, he was putting himself in charge and making Batista vs. CM Punk for the title. JBL appeared on the screen and pointed out Batista already had his title shot and didn’t win. JBL noted that he beat John Cena and said he deserves the next title shot at SummerSlam. Punk came out and said he wants to prove he can beat Batista, so he accepted the title match for Raw. JBL was livid but Batista had his mic cut.

Shawn Michaels’ music played, but the crowd sensed something was up because there wasn’t much of a pop. Lance Cade then came out and invited Michaels to join him. Cade defeated Paul London in a short match with a back breaker, shoulder block and sit down power bomb, and again called out Michaels. The announcers played up that Cade was trained by Michaels, but not that London was as well or that he was looking for revenge. Cade called for Chris Jericho to join him. Jericho said that Michaels wasn’t coming, and that what happened to Michaels is on the fans. Michaels wanted to please the fans, and now his career is over with a detached retina that will prevent him from seeing properly for the rest of his life. Jericho admonished the fans, saying he came back to save them but that they don’t deserve to be saved. Jericho said he is proud of what he did to Michaels, and that he is saved for getting rid of Michaels.

Beth Phoenix beat Kelly Kelly. Beth slammed Kelly into the turnbuckle and hit a body slam. Kelly fought back with forearms, a whirly bird, and a dropkick. Kelly went for the handspring elbow but Beth caught her and set up for the glam slam. Kelly rolled out but Beth held on and hit the glam slam for the pin. They gave Kelly a surprising amount of offense here.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan announced that he is thinking about retirement. He said that he has had a great run, made a lot of friends, and survived cancer. However, he feels that Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes may be right that time has passed him by. The crowd didn’t want Duggan to quit, but Duggan said he just wanted to say thanks. Jerry Lawler interrupted him, and said there is no age limit in WWE. Lawler posited that Duggan should continue for as long as he enjoys wrestling. Lawler noted Duggan’s presence gets people to chant U.S.A. This made Duggan happy. He said he doesn’t want to give up wrestling, and thanked Lawler. This brought out the dastardly DiBiase and Rhodes. DiBiase made fun of Lawler for dating girls younger than him, and said both Lawler and Duggan need to retire. Rhodes said that when Duggan won the Royal Rumble he was two and a half and when Lawler slapped Andy Kaufman he wasn’t even born. Lawler offered to show him what the moment was like and slapped him.

John Cena and Cryme Tyme beat JBL, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. The heels worked over JTG forever. JBL used a clothesline and shoulder block and DiBiase used a body slam and double foot stomp off the second rope. JTG finally tagged Cena who came in with the Cena slam on DiBiase and spear on JBL. JBL left and Cena hit the double FU on the tag champions for the pin.

Katie Lea and Paul Burchill beat Kofi Kingston and Mickie James. Kofi did a bunch of his jumping moves, but Katie distracted him and Paul hit a chop block. Paul worked over Kofi’s leg. Kofi went for a kick on Burchill but hit the ring post on the outside, and Paul hit a neckbreaker for the pin.

Jamie Noble and Layla were chatting backstage. Batista wanted to find Kane. Noble kind of blew him off, so Batista choked Noble and told him to let Kane know that he is looking for him. Elsewhere, Punk said he doesn’t want to hold onto his title through technicalities. If he goes down, he wants to go down swinging. JBL interrupted and said that at SummerSlam he plans on wrestling the champion. Punk pointed out his first successful title defense came against JBL.

Santino came to the ring and said that his challenge last week was to men, not women. He challenged any man to come fight him. D-Lo Brown made his return. He didn’t get much of a reaction, although he did get some chants during the match. D-Lo hit a slam, leg drop, clothesline and the frog splash for the pin. After the match, Beth attacked Santino. They struggled for a while, and then they kissed. They then both backed off, confused by this turn of events.

Batista beat CM Punk via disqualification. Kane attacked Batista before the match and gave him a choke slam. Punk made the save and knocked Kane out of the ring. The match started and Punk did well for himself. He hit kicks, forearms, elbows, knees, a neck breaker and a bulldog. Batista responded with a spine buster and spear. JBL then ran in for the DQ and gave Batista the clothesline from Hell. Cena came out to fight JBL but accidentally nailed Batista. Batista went for the Batista bomb on Cena and Cena went for the FU on Batista. Neither man succeeded and they had a pull apart brawl at the conclusion of the show.

    An End to the Mayhem?
    July 28, 2008

When Raw convenes in Washington, D.C. on Monday night, Shane McMahon is scheduled to appear. In recent weeks, Shane and his sister, Executive Vice President Stephanie McMahon have implored the WWE Universe to maintain composure on the brand, which has recently been overrun with civil unrest. They've also requested that our fans allow their injured father, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, the privacy he desires. Could Shane be coming to Raw to name a new General Manager?

Last Monday night, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk was battling Batista in a title match when all hell broke loose. The aftermath of the no-contest match saw John Cena rush the ring to tangle with longtime foe JBL, who had charged the ring moments earlier. During his tussle with JBL, Cena inadvertently leveled Batista with a right arm. Accident or not, the already frustrated Animal was fit to be tied. He came up swinging and the two powerhouses traded blows to end the broadcast. The confrontation between Cena and Batista begs the question, how will the next meeting go between these two?

In no less disturbing Raw action, Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix shared what can best be described as the weirdest love/hate moment Raw has seen in ages. As The Glamazon looked on from ringside, Marella lost a match to returning Superstar D-Lo Brown. After the match, Phoenix stepped into the ring and scuffled with the spicy Italian. As the two traded waist-lock holds, they suddenly, inexplicably , kissed. Just as quickly, they pulled back, seemingly afraid of any amorous feelings their lip lock may have evoked. Hmmm. What might have sparked these feelings of amore? And how might a relationship between these two develop, if at all?

Finally, announcers Michael Cole and Jerry 'The King'Lawler touched on rumors last Monday that, in the absence of a General Manager, Shane and Stephanie McMahon are searching for a new Raw GM. Will our fans soon see a new face as Raw GM? If so, who will take the reins?

To find out the answers to these questions and more, be sure to tune into Monday Night Raw, live at 9pm et, 8pm ct only on USA Network. For more WWE action, don’t miss Saturday Night’s Main Event, Aug. 2 on NBC at 9 p.m. ET

Shane says he and Stephanie has chosen a new General Manager that they will introduce later tonight. He says the new GM has been busy tonight making matches tonight and one of them is CM Punk vs. one of the biggest free agents in the busines who he doesn't name. He also says tonight, John Cena and Batista will team up to face Kane and JBL. Shane's music hits and he makes his exit after dancing around like a fool. Who will Punk's opponent be?

Intergender Match: Kelly Kelly and D-Lo Brown vs. Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella - Kelly Kelly makes her way to the ring first followed by D-Lo Brown. Santino comes out next and we cut to a backstage video that was shot moments earlier. Beth tells Santino that he kissed her and there is nothing between them and they should keep the relationship strictly professional. Santino runs his mouth at ringside as The Glamazon makes her way to the ring. Beth and Santino argue as D-Lo Brown and Santino start the match out. D-Lo strikes quick with a big atomic drop and a clothesline down low. D-Lo gets a 2 count. Brown goes to work on Santino in the corner with forearm shots but misses a big running splash. Santino with a neckbreaker. Santino can't pick up D-Lo so Beth gets tagged in and picks him up. Kelly tags herself in and hits Beth with forearm shots but gets caught in a big knee to the back by Phoenix. Santino tells Beth to tag him in because he wants Kelly. Santino knocks D-Lo off the apron and rolls Kelly Kelly up to get the win. Winners: Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix

After the match, Santino and Beth shake hands in the ring. They stand back to back and act like nothing is ging on. Santino goes to walk off and leave the ring but Beth grabs him, pulls him back and kisses him. Santino looks stunned as Beth walks off to the back with a smirk on her face.

We go to a video of last week when Lawler and Duggan brawled with Rhodes and DiBiase. Another referee runs out as King's music is playing and hands Lilian Garcia a note. Lawler hits him with a big boot but gets leveled with a huge DiBiase clothesline. DiBiase tags in Cody Rhodes and holds Lawler. The guy is really showing out. Lawler comes back and drops DiBiase with right hands. He goes to piledrive Rhodes but gets back body dropped. Rhodes wants Lawler to tag in Michael Cole. Rhodes attacks Lawler, throws him out of the ring and brings in Michael Cole to the ring. Cole hits Cody with a weak right hand it looked like which just pisses him off. Cody hits Cole and then floors him with a clothesline to pin him for the three count. Winners: Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase

Back from commercial and Mike Adamle is sitting in place of Michael Cole. Adamle says he got a call from WWE offices a few weeks ago telling him to be in Washington, DC for tonight's show. Jerry Lawler walks up and says obviously our new RAW GM likes to play games.

WWE Intercontinental Title Match: Jamie Noble vs. Kofi Kingston - Jamie Noble is in the ring with Layla and says the new GM needs to recognize who he is and he compares himself to Obama and McCain. He says he brought Layla out here and says something about being the future Intercontinental Champion and says he challenged Kofi earlier today. Out comes the Intercontinental Champion. Kofi and Noble start the match going full force with Noble backing Kofi into the corner. Eventually Kofi comes back with a series of big kicks and hits his Boom Boom leg drop. Kofi hits another series of kicks but Noble tries to counter. Kofi climbs the top rope and lands a cross body on Noble and ries to pin him. Noble manages to pin Kofi for a 2 count. They go back to their feet and Kofi knocks Noble to the mat with a kick to the head and gets the pinfall and the win. Winner: Kofi Kingston

CM Punk vs. William Regal - Punk makes his way to the ring and locks eyes with JBL as he holds his belt high in the air. Punk's opponent is out next and it is the former RAW General Manager, William Regal. Wrestling, going back and forth. Punk hits Regal with a knee to the jaw followed by a kick and a 2 count. Punk hits more knees and backs Regal into the corner. Regal turns it around and drops Punk with right hands. Regal goes to the outside and kicks Punk in the head while down on the mat. Regal back in the ring now and he stomps on Punk until his head is bleeding. Regal with another 2 count. Regal continues punishing Punk, dropping knees on him and getting another near fall. Punk fights back and rolls Regal up for a 2 count. JBL keeps putting over how good Regal looks in the ring against Punk, and he does. Regal applies another submission hold and the crowd tries to get behind Punk. The hold breaks and the two start to brawl. Punk hits lefts and rights followed by a big kick and a 2 count. Regal hits a huge back suplex on Punk and covers him for another 2 count. Out of nowhere Punk puts Regal in the GTS, lays him out and gets the pinfall for the win. Winner: CM Punk - After the match, JBL gets in the ring to confront CM Punk. Kane's music hits, the pyro explodes and out comes Kane to the ring. JBL gets decked by a right hand from Kane and Punk kicks Kane in the face. JBL gets up and lays Punk out. Kane and JBL face off in the middle of the ring as Kane stares off with a weird look on his face.

Chris Jericho, dressed in a suit, makes his way to the ring with Lance Cade by his side. The Jeritron screen still hangs on the set, bashed up from Shawn Michaels' head. Jericho says once again he came out to tell the truth and the crowd put him down. Jericho continues on with most of the same stuff he has been saying for weeks. He says he has moved on with his career and matured. He says tonight is the last Highlight Reel that we will ever see. He says he has put together a special farewell to an Icon, but a man that you will never see in the ring again. He says it's not Shawn Michaels. He says it's not HBK. The man he is talking about is Y2J. We cut to a highlight package of Jericho's WWE career it looks like. Jericho shows many clips of him acting a fool and says he is embarrassed to watch that footage. He says he has moved on and matured. Jericho talks about putting HBK's head through the screen and beating him at Great American Bash. He says those highlights mean more to him than anything else in his career because when he destroyed HBK, he destroyed each and every one of the fans as well. Lance Cade grabs the mic and tells Jericho that he appreciates him and what he has done for his career. Cade tells him he "saved him" and for that, he will be forever grateful. Jericho thanks Cade and says he appreciates him too as a "Boring" chant breaks out. Jericho talks about HBK's eye injury and tells him to stay home, move on with his life and spend time with his family. Jericho goes on as the crowd chants HBK's name. Winner: Mickie James - After the match, Mickie goes to hug her dad at ringside. Katie Lea runs up and attacks Mickie from behind and lays her out. Katie goes to the entranceway where Paul Burchill is. She says that what she did was for the new General Manager and announces herself as the future Women's Champion and Paul Burchill as the future IC Champion. Mickie and Katie trade looks as we go to the SmackDown Rebound and commercial.

Back from the SmackDown Rebound and we see Todd Grisham talking to Shane McMahon backstage. Todd thanks Shane for being here tonight as things have been crazy. Todd asks for the scoop on RAW's new GM. Shane says the person is already here and Todd will find out when everyone else does. We go to commercial.

Backstage we see Cryme Tyme talking to John Cena. They're asking him if he's sure he doesn't want them out there tonight because he can't trust JBL. Batista walks up and Cena asks them if they can have a minute. Batista says they don't trust each other and the best thing Cena can do is stay out of his way. Cena says funny, he took the words right out of his mouth. Both men are hesitant to walk ahead of the other to the ring for the main event as we go back to commercial.

at least we don't have to hear Adamle call matches anymore

RAW Preview for 8/4 - Credit goes to WWE.com:

On Monday night, Shane McMahon appeared on Raw and announced the show’s new General Manager: Mike Adamle. Our fans were shocked to learn that WWE’s flagship program would now be headed up by the absent-minded ECW commentator. Will Adamle be able to take control and command the respect of the Raw roster, or will the mayhem overwhelming the show continue to run unchecked?

On his very first night as Raw GM, Adamle made a number of matches. The biggest of these however, was Raw’s first SummerSlam match: For the first-time ever, John Cena vs. Batista. Recent weeks have seen both Superstars displaying their hunger for championship gold, but their match at SummerSlam will be to determine who is truly the top contender on Raw. With two competitors as intense as Cena and The Animal, will they even make it to SummerSlam before a collision?

Though SummerSlam is right around the corner, there’s plenty to look forward to on the next Raw as well. For the first time since having his right eye severely injured by Chris Jericho at The Great American Bash, Shawn Michaels will appear for an interview on Raw. Y2J has claimed that he ended the career of HBK, will Michaels corroborate this evidence? What will The Showstopper have to say to the man who injured him so severely?

Though he is still gloating about his win over Michaels, Jericho has begun to look forward as well. The man once known as the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla hosted what he announced as the last edition of his talk-show, the Highlight Reel. Y2J shared several clips of a more fun, fan-friendly Chris Jericho, and then let the WWE Universe know that it was a thing of the past. Like a slew of other top Superstars, Jericho has his eyes on nothing short of the World Heavyweight Championship, and communicated as much. Will new GM Mike Adamle be receptive to Jericho’s desire for championship gold? Who will fall into Y2J’s sights next?

For the answers to these questions and more, make sure to tune into Raw on Monday at 9pm et, 8pm ct on the USA Network

sorry about the late posting for the results

    RAW Results for 8/4:

Mike Adamle appeared on the stage to start the show. He had reading glasses on so he could consult and read off the script from time to time. That certainly isn’t a great vote of confidence in him. He was booed and there were chants of you suck. Adamle talked about a man who wasn’t taken seriously and wasn’t doing a good job. But he was referring to Ronald Reagan, who he claimed turned out to be one of the best presidents. Adamle noted that sometimes first impressions can be deceiving. He mentioned how he misidentified Jeff Hardy as Jeff Harvey. Adamle noted that everyone makes mistakes but the important thing is that we grow from them. He wants an opportunity, and announced there would be three title matches on Raw including Batista and John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. JBL came out. He congratulated Adamle and said that Adamle is a born winner. JBL then lobbied for a title shot against CM Punk at SummerSlam. Chris Jericho interrupted and wanted the title shot himself. They argued about it, and Adamle ended up making JBL and Jericho vs. Punk. If Jericho or JBL won, that individual would get a title shot. If Punk won, neither would get a title shot. If the ten minute time limit expired, there would be a triple threat.

Kofi Kingston beat Paul Burchill to retain the Intercontinental title. Katie Lea provided a distraction, and Paul hit stomps and a neck breaker. Kingston retaliated with kicks, a springboard crossbody, the side Ghanan leg sweep, the high knee drop and trouble in paradise for the pin.

Mickie James beat Katie Lea to retain the women’s title. James hit a Thesz press of the apron, punches, a huracanrana, elbows and a neck breaker. Katie used a jaw breaker and northern lights suplex for a near fall. However, James then hit the implant DDT for the pin. This result was kind of surprising given they seemed to have been grooming Katie for the women’s title and she has lost to Mickie a number of times now. Moreover, Mickie dominated the match.

Beth Phoenix jumped Mickie after the match and hit the glam slam. Santino came out to applaud and exchanged butt grabs with Beth. They then went to Adamle’s office, and asked for title shots at SummerSlam. Adamle said there was only room for one of those matches, and they would have to decide which.

Santino said he wanted what Beth wanted, to see him as the Intercontinental champion. Beth said she didn’t want that, and wanted a women’s title match. Santino laughed and said he didn’t want to be women’s champion. Adamle ended up making Kofi and Mickie vs. Santino and Beth for both titles in a winner take all match.

Batista and Cena cut promos backstage. Batista said he liked the idea of a title match, but didn’t like teaming with Cena. He said he would rather compete for the world title. He told Cena to stay out of his way. Cena, meanwhile, talked about how good Batista is. He said that one of them needs to step up and prove who is best. As for the night, Cena felt they would either win or lose and tear each other to pieces. Cena hoped for victory.

They aired a WWE.com exclusive on television with Jamie Noble asking Layla out. Layla said Noble’s always getting his butt whipped and she doesn’t associate with losers. Layla was then dancing in the ring, and William Regal interrupted her. Noble came out and had a tremendous pull-apart brawl with Regal. This was one of the better pull-apart brawls you will ever see.

JBL and Chris Jericho defeated CM Punk. This was like one of those WWE triple threats where one guy lies on the outside for minutes on end while the other two fight in the ring. Jericho and JBL double teamed Punk early, but Punk threw Jericho over the top. JBL hit a fall away slam, punches, kicks and a swinging neck breaker. JBL went after Jericho, but Jericho threw him into the steps. Jericho hit a fist drop off the second rope, body slam and applied the abdominal stretch on Punk. JBL came in and hit a clothesline on Punk, but Jericho broke up the pin. Jericho hit a lionsault on Punk but JBL broke up the pin. JBL and Jericho traded blows, and Punk gave JBL a clothesline off the top. Punk hit a high knee on Jericho and the go 2 sleep on JBL, but Jericho broke up the pin on JBL. Punk went for go 2 sleep on Jericho, but Jericho raked the eyes and applied the Walls. JBL broke that up. Jericho snapped JBL’s neck over the ropes, but JBL fell back on Punk and scored the pin in the last second of the ten minutes.

Shawn Michaels did a satellite interview. He acknowledged that his eye is damaged, but said a combination of injuries have kept him out including his ribs, knees and back. He said he will feel it the rest of his life. He announced that he will have a reevaluation with doctors August 15 and publicly declare his future at SummerSlam. He said that he will heed the advice of doctors and teased retirement.

Kane beat Matt Striker. Striker before the match was happy about the opportunity to finally get to wrestle. Of course, it didn’t turn out so well for him. Kane won with a clothesline off the top and choke slam. Kane was presented like a face and cheered in this segment. After the match Kane said he is in a better place because he’s not alive, he’s dead. He looked at the bag. Backstage, Mike Adamle told Kelly Kelly that next week Kane will have to reveal what is in the bag or he will take it from Kane.

Batista and John Cena beat Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase to win the tag team titles. Batista and Cena were dominant early. Batista looks really agile and athletic these days relative to when he had a bigger physique. He might want to lose even more weight. He can afford to lose more muscle mass and still look very big, and it will likely extend his career and allow him to have better matches. The heels got the heat on Cena with a Cody DDT and dropkick and DiBiase fist drop and double ax handle off the ropes. Cena fought back and tagged in Batista by slapping him. They teased a blow up, but Batista instead went into the ring with a clothesline, back drop, spine buster and spear. Cena cleared the ring and Batista scored the pin with the Batista bomb. Batista and Cena took turns raising the belts after the match to milk the alternate crowd reactions. It was actually pretty even with both guys cheered more and some scattered boos.

    Bagging the gold?
    August 11, 2008

At SummerSlam, John Cena and Batista face off one-on-one for the first time ever. On Monday night though, the two Superstars had to join forces as they faced World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. In spite of some infighting, and neither of these dominant competitors wanting to give an inch, Cena & Batista defeated Rhodes & DiBiase to become the new World Tag Team Champions.

While preparing to face each other at the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer, will Cena & Batista be able to retain their gold? Can these rivals possibly coexist? We'll find out this Monday, as the former champions exercise their rematch clause to face Cena & Batista once again, attempting to regain the World Tag Team Championship.

Since coming to Raw in the 2008 WWE Draft, Kane has been on a mission of devastation, affecting those in and outside the ring all while making cryptic references to he and whether he is alive or dead. The Big Red Monster has kept a burlap sack clutched to his side throughout, the contents of which remain shrouded in mystery.

On Raw, new General Manager Mike Adamle decided that the sack has remained enigmatic for long enough, and in an attempt to give the WWE Universe what they want, has promised to make Kane disclose the contents of the bag on this week’s Raw. Will Kane simply allow the GM to look in his fiercely guarded bag? And what could the Big Red Monster be hiding?

Ever since World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk won the title, JBL has decried the Straightedge Superstar as a paper champion, who won gold on a fluke. On Monday, the self-made millionaire pinned Punk in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match to face the World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam. Then, as first-seen on WWE Mobile on AT&T, JBL went on to challenge Punk to a contest he knows the Straightedge Superstar "CAN'T win." What is this mystery challenge, and will the World Heavyweight Champion be able to prevail?

On Raw, Shawn Michaels participated in his first interview since being severely injured at the hands of Chris Jericho during their match at The Great American Bash. HBK verified that he was suffering from a detached retina, and that his future as a WWE Superstar was in question. With one more medical evaluation to go, Michaels will be present at SummerSlam to share the results with the WWE Universe. What will Michaels’ doctors determine? Will we see HBK in action again?

For the answers to these questions, be sure to tune into Monday Night Raw at 9pm et, 8pm ct only on USA Network.

    RAW Results for 8/11:

John Cena came out to start the show and said that while he may not have an issue with Batista he does have a match with Batista. He called Batista to the ring, and told Batista that they needed to work together on Raw. Cena said that at SummerSlam they will meet and it is six years in the making. Cena said he has been watching Batista, and that Batista was groomed for success in a way that he wasn’t. He said that Sunday he will prove he is the better man. Batista responded that he has been watching Cena too. He noted that they have both won Rumbles, both won WrestleMania main events, and both won titles. Batista said he respects Cena, but wouldn’t do some of the things Cena does and he understands why people over the age of 15 would like to see him beat Cena senseless. Batista asserted that Sunday he will prove he is better. They shook hands. This segment was okay, but it felt like there was something missing. The fact that the match feels tremendously rushed is a significant part of that.

Beth Phoenix beat Kelly Kelly in a brief but very sloppy match. Kelly slapped Beth, but Beth took over with kicks. Beth went for a press slam but Kelly reversed into a rollup. Beth caught her with the glam slam for the pin. Santino did commentary and put over the Beth and Santino couple as Glamarella. Beth went to attack Kelly after the match, but Mickie James and Kofi Kingston made the save. Santino challenged Mickie to a match, and Mickie accepted.

Santino Marella beat Mickie James. Mickie dominated the match with a drop toehold, spanking, arm drag and kicks. However, Santino got into it with Kofi, and that gave Beth an opportunity to jump in the ring and throw Mickie into the post. Santino grabbed the tights, scored the pin and celebrated triumphantly.

Backstage, Kane met with Mike Adamle. Adamle told Kane that there wasn’t a spot on SummerSlam for him or Chris Jericho, so they would be wrestling on Raw in a SummerSlam match.Adamle told Kane that he would also have to show what’s in the bag. Adamle said that he doesn’t want kids going back to school carrying around bags mimicking Kane. Kane told Adamle that he was making a big mistake.

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase cut a promo backstage. Cody talked about how they are a team while Cena and Batista can’t stand each other. DiBiase asserted that their careers are further along than any Hall of Famers at their age. DiBiase said next year it could easily be him against DiBiase in the SummerSlam main event. DiBiase said that they would win back the tag titles

Cryme Tyme beat the Highlanders in a quick match. Shad and JTG hit shoulder blocks. Rory pushed JTG over the ropes and threw him into the ring apron. Shad quickly got the hot tag and came in with clotheslines, a face first suplex and an STO for the pin.

JBL called out CM Punk for a competition. He berated Punk, but Punk cut him off and told him to shut up. Punk said that he’s the champ because he earned it. He added that retaining the title at SummerSlam will be the crowning achievement of his career and he will prove he is the man. JBL called him Cinderella and said fairy tales aren’t real. JBL noted that WrestleMania was a huge stage and Punk came up big there, but he doesn’t have much time left. JBL asserted that he can beat Punk at anything, and challenged him to a whiskey drinking contest. JBL said he would concede victory if Punk took just one shot. Punk responded that he would not compromise his beliefs. JBL said that he would toast the end of Punk’s title run, at which point Punk had a change of heart. He toasted to JBL and then threw the whiskey in JBL’s face. He followed with a high knee.

Chris Jericho beat Kane. Lance Cade distracted Kane and allowed Jericho to hit a springboard dropkick. Jericho went for the Walls but Kane fought out and hit a side slam. Kane used a clothesline off the top and went for the chokeslam when Adamle came out with security. Kane was distracted and grabbed the bag, which allowed Jericho to hit the code breaker for the pin. Adamle got in the ring and said he knew what was in the bag and what was meant by 'is he alive or dead.' Adamle explained that Kane is 'he' and said that Kane can exorcise his demons and live a normal life. He told Kane to hand over the bag. Kane said that there is indeed a mask in the bag, and the man who wore it has been scarred and tortured beyond all human recognition. However, it was not Kane’s mask. Kane opened the bag and it was Rey Mysterio’s mask. Kane chuckled and walked off.

William Regal beat Jamie Noble in a good, short match. Regal hit forearms and knees. Noble came back with a somersault senton into the corner and crossbody off the top. Regal retaliated with a powerslam and running knee to the head for the pin.

Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes beat Batista and John Cena. Cena and Batista disagreed about who would start, and the heels took the opportunity to jump Cena. Cena fought them off and did the 'you can’t see me' to Batista before hitting the five knuckle shuffle on Rhodes. The heels briefly took over and Cena tagged back in Batista, which allowed Batista to give Cena the thumbs down and go for the Batista bomb on DiBiase. Cena stopped that, and Rhodes hit a chop block. Batista hit a powerslam and tagged in Cena with a slap to the face. Cena got in Batista’s face. DiBiase rammed them together and rolled up Cena for the pin. After the match Cena and Batista fought off the tag champs. Batista called Cena back to the ring. Security came out and they had a pull apart brawl to close the show

i'm not sure what to think of the whole Kane-Mask-Mysterio angle. I was hoping that it was Kane's old mask, but i am interested to see where they take this. didn't mysterio make an appearance not too long ago? i didn't see what happened between him and kane that would start this storyline.

RAW Preview for 8/18 - Credit goes to WWE.com:

In a first time meeting between two of Raws biggest Superstars, Batista was able to prove himself the better man by defeating John Cena at SummerSlam. Now that Batista has won, will he refocus on winning the World Heavyweight Title? Also, how will Cena cope with being beaten by The Animal?

Ever since winning the World Heavyweight Title, CM Punk has had to hear JBL doubt his worth as champion, even after he had already successfully defended his gold against the self-proclaimed wrestling god. The Straightedge Superstar followed up an insulting drinking contest offer from JBL on Raw by besting him once again in the ring at SummerSlam to retain his championship.
